CBS has moved CSI: Crime Scene Investigation to Sunday nights at 10pm this season — typically a sign that a show is on its way out. But, could the ratings turnaround and start to rise? Will the venerable series be renewed for a 16th season or will this be the end? Stay tuned.
The original CSI continues to follow Las Vegas crime scene investigators as they try to solve bizarre cases. This season’s castmates are Ted Danson, Elisabeth Shue, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, Robert David Hall, Wallace Langham, David Berman, Elisabeth Hamois, and Jon Wellner.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/13 update: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has been cancelled but will wrap up with a TV movie.
Final season averages: 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a couple weeks later.
For comparisons: The 14th season of CSI averaged a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.93 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the CSI TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a 16th season?
I love CSI! I loved CSI: NY also. I hope the show keeps going. I think it’s very interesting and informative.
We have always loved CSI (not so much with the season of Ray Langston) and I am just heartbroken to think we’ll lose it. I’m really sad that George Eads is leaving; my eye candy for years! I can’t even find reruns like so many other programs that weren’t worth watching
in the first place. Why CBS keeps garbage on and cancels the good ones is beyond me but since corporations own the media we’ve lost the real actor’s input. Sad.
I think that should renew the show. Let’s get rid of the garbage like Mom to start with. That show is not worth the time to be on TV. CBS has several others that I don’t give the time of day. But yet you have a show that is entertaining, and you want to get rid of. Time to boot the survivor series off too. Getting really tired of that garbage. You can only show the same garbage over and over for so long. Oops forgot that there were a lot of mindless people out there that can’t follow a… Read more »
Guess I’m the odd one out – always look forward to The Good Wife on Sun nite; not much on after that, so CSI’s time slot could actually save it – viewership from the Good Wife would just stay tuned to CSI, as I do.
Surprisingly, Danson does quite well, in my opinion; better than ‘Catherine”. Show has never been the same since losing Grissom. If George is leaving, show is probably in peril. Danson, Jorja, and George, and the Dr. are the show’s cement. If Jorja goes, the show’s definitely over.
CSI is one of my long time favorites. I love the addition of Ted Danson. I’m really upset that George Eads is leaving. I hope the show doesn’t tank after all original cast members are gone. Would love to see this go another year or two with Danson. Elizabeth Shue is a nice addition, but I miss Marg Helgenberger. (sp?)
The show is still great, but there’s too much focus on the annoying Elizabeth Shue, who couldn’t act her way out of a wet paper bag. Focus on the REAL CSIs, the ones who’ve been there since the beginning. That’s where the real strengths/talents of this series lie.
CBS is obviously TRYING to kill the show by airing it in such a crappy timeslot. They’ll claim that it got “bad ratings,” & never admit that the horrible ratings were the network’s fault. Yet another good show axed for utter excrement like Stalker & NCIS Version 20 Bazillion.
I would like to be able to see the show…..CBS is playing games with it……2 Sundays in a row they have not bothered to show the program. CSI is a great program…..Why do the big wigs ( but small minded people there) do that. If it is not broke why try to fix it….why not move it back to Thursdays after 2 and a half men leave and put mom back on Mondays.
I love this show. BUT putting it on Sunday night is terrible, it’s a death trap. Shows don’t survive long when they move them here. CBS move this show back to another night.
I don’t know why CBS even bothers to air “NEW” shows during football season. You never know what time it will be on and even it you set it record, times are off 90% of the time.
This show died long ago. But I don’t know of any show I would follow or start watching on Sunday night. I learned that lesson the hard way. For many of us DVR viewers, CBS doesn’t exist after football is over on Sundays.
The Sundays at 10pm timeslot really is a death slot for CBS. I never expected the original “CSI” to bomb that badly in the ratings in that timeslot (a 1.3 demo rating?). “CSI: Miami”, in its last two seasons rarely fell that low and was still cancelled. In a few weeks, the original “CSI” will end up back on Wednesdays at 10pm once that new “Stalker” series is pulled from the schedule. It’s always sad to see a former juggernaut sink this low.
Love this show, was even better when Gill Grissom was on. Will continue to watch every episode as long as its on air.
Writing has been poor for several seasons–just never recovered from the Amazin’ Ray Langston season. I thought Danson/DB would be able to restore the team concept, but that hasn’t happened. So, I don’t think there is much hope for season 15 or 16!
Another ratings bomb for CBS. hope they are making up for it with syndication money. otherwise, another loser.
Another show that has long outlived its viewability. I stopped watching years back when the stories became inane.
so you stopped watching during season 2 then? 🙂
