JR Ewing and Larry Hagman may be gone but the hijinks at Southfork will continue. Dallas has been renewed for a third season by TNT. There will be 15 episodes once again.
Season three will start airing in early 2014. There had been word that TNT was leaning toward bringing Dallas back to the summer schedule but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards — unless they break up the season into two parts.
Here’s the press release:
TNT Taps Third Season of Hit Drama Series “Dallas”
TNT has renewed the hit drama series Dallas for a third season. Produced by Warner Horizon Television, Dallas centers on the Ewing clan, an enormously wealthy Texas family whose sibling rivalries, romantic betrayals, corruption and even murder are truly legendary. TNT has ordered 15 episodes for the third season, which is slated to launch in early 2014.
“Dallas has built a passionately loyal following with its expertly woven storylines, clever twists and turns, and numerous outstanding performances by a cast that spans generations,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “Although we said goodbye to Larry Hagman and his iconic character J.R. Ewing this year, Dallas has many more stories left to tell, and the Ewing clan will continue to honor J.R.’s memory by keeping its audience surprised and delighted.”
TNT’s Dallas stars Patrick Duffy as Bobby Ewing, who is now the senior member of the Ewing family following the death of his older brother, J.R. Ewing. Linda Gray stars as Sue Ellen Ewing, J.R.’s former wife and the mother of his son, John Ross, played by Josh Henderson. Jesse Metcalfe is Christopher, Bobby’s adopted son, and Jordana Brewster is Elena Ramos, who grew up in the Ewing household and is now fighting for her own family’s legacy. Julie Gonzalo is Pamela Rebecca Barnes, Christopher’s ex-wife and the daughter of Cliff Barnes (Ken Kercheval), a longtime rival of the Ewings. Brenda Strong stars as Bobby’s wife, Ann, while Mitch Pileggi stars as Harris Ryland, Ann’s scheming ex-husband. The ensemble cast also includes Emma Bell as Emma Brown, a sheltered beauty whose father has taught her to distrust the world around her, and Kuno Becker as Drew Ramos, Elena’s troubled brother who has recently returned to Southfork.
Dallas launched on TNT last summer and ranked as basic cable’s #1 new drama of 2012 with key adult demos. In its second season, Dallas has averaged 3.8 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery, with 1.6 million adults 25-54 and 1.4 million adults 18-49.
Created by David Jacobs and shot on location in the title city, Dallas is executive-produced by Cynthia Cidre, Michael M. Robin and Robert Rovner.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to season three of Dallas on TNT? Is it still worth watching?
Been watching Dallas since day one when it first aired several years ago and I have been watching the return of Dallas and it is my favorite show. Please bring it back!
I was a teen when the original Dallas was on and stayed home on Friday nights to watch! I loved it! Family ranch and oil, like an American dream! Looked for years to find reruns, but couldn’t, wish I could watch from day one and watch til I’m a very old man! TNT and other networks are out of touch with common folk! Bring Dallas back and keep it going! Please!
We my husband and i loved Dallas !! Nothing like it ! Like part of our family! Very sad that the people that make these choices are so stupid to cancell a all american tv program such as this !! Where was your head!!! please bring them back !!!
I love The show Dallas. I sure hope that the station reconsiders & renews the show for another season.
Would it be possible if your station could pick up Dallas the tv show
Loved Dallas. “Loved” the TV soap opera drama through season 2 and the first half of Season 3. The writers putting a storyline of Drug Carell and Drug Lords and Nicholas lasted forever in Season 3 and should have been over by the first half of Season 3. I think that is why they lost some viewers. Love Linda Grey, Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe and of course Patrick Duffy. I pray they have a Season 4 even if it is on another TV Network. I would watch. TNT I am very disappointed with you.
What’s all this 18-49 viewers. I am 62 and my husband is 63. Old people watch tv too. More so than the younger , you need to cater to us and not the young. I don’t get It.
So please do not cancel Dallas. We love it. The older population watch more tv than the younger generation
if there would be a rerun, i watch them all again. like i did, from the very beginning.
could not wait until it was “Dallas-time”, weekly.
Dallas is way better and above and beyond every “normal” soap, in Dallas is a lot more action.
All i wish, that it goes on and on. The new characters are great, but i also love the old actors, Bobby, Sue Ellen, Cliff…., maybe they should try to bring back more of the old actors.
We are thrilled that Season 3 of Dallas was renewed & anticipate it each week. We also would like to see it renewed. The younger couples make it new & fresh. Love Mitch Pillegii’s & Judith Light’s character’s. They do a fantastic job playing villans. Would also like to see the character Ray more.
Annie & Norm Fuss
I love Dallas and I hope they bring it back for the summer season. Sure I miss the old characters, but all the new young people do such a great job! I want it to keep going. Love Sue Ellen, and Bobby tho. Please bring all of them back!!!
