This will be the first full season of Dallas without Larry Hagman’s JR Ewing. Can the cast and producers continue to draw viewers and solid ratings without their quintessential bad guy? Will the new Dallas be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned to find out.
Airing on Monday nights, Dallas continues to follow the machinations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.92 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Reference point: The second season of the new Dallas averaged a 0.8 demo rating and 2.67 million viewers.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you still like the Dallas series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Update: TNT has cancelled Dallas after three seasons. Details here.
I really wish we had Dallas back. TV just isn’t the same without it.
TV had better watch out. It looks like the rug is being pulled from underneath. They’ve made such horrible and greedy decisions. They’ve put garbage shows on in replacement of great shows like Dallas. It’s probably deserving that tv, as we know it, will fail and drop to obscurity. Video on Demand will probably replace regular tv. Maybe then we’ll get back some quality shows like Dallas.
Dallas would surpass in viewing of these supposedly new shows if it was on. It’s so sad the way tv is so bad now. If it weren’t for a couple of honest news channels, tv would be out the door with the trash.
This is supposed to be the time when the new hot shows are on. The summer season has passed. So this is it? Really? You’re kidding right? Man I miss Dallas…
TV must be all messed up if they go and cancel a show like Dallas. If they can’t make a great show like Dallas and put it on TV so we can enjoy a great show for a change, then TV is really messed up and confused. TV needs some changes. And it looks like that’s coming.
The industry of tv must be really nervous by now. Or does the advertisers have such a grip on us that they win no matter what? I’m positive people would rather watch Dallas than the garbage that’s on. But then the ad people have the power. Some day it’ll be different. It has to.
Apparently people have had it up to their ears with these ads. Most spots are 4 minutes long and multiple times now. It’s hard to watch any show like that. I think it’s time to rein in these interruptions. It’s one major reason that’s killing TV. It killed the series Dallas. TV viewing, in case you haven’t noticed, is way down now.
If the FCC would put a clamp on the amount of commercials that TV shows play, TV might have a chance. The length of time commercials are on is unbearable. It’s no wonder why TV is going downhill. It’s like taxes…whatever the people can bear and not rise up against. Well, if it weren’t for fast forward, there would be no TV. Dallas was shut down by the unbearable amount of commerccials. Most shows now share this same fate.
TV has really gone downhill since Dallas was cancelled. Is it the networks that messed up or is it the viewing audience that’s the problem? The economy maybe? Advertisers greed? Whatever it is, it’s sure messed up. The problem lies with those who are responsible. Ultimately that’s advertising and the networks. Incredible incompetance.
I keep flipping…nothing in the way of a good drama on tv. Dallas was the best. They cancelled it. Incredible incompetence. Now people don’t even watch the NFL. Since the media is so dishonest, the News will go next probably.
All these satellite tv channels. Nothing on. Reruns, garbage, slanted media who lie to us. You’d think maybe they’d give us a break and return Dallas? I guess that show doesn’t fit their computer model. Well, their computer model will drive tv to bankruptcy at the rate they’re going.
Time for TV to change. Do the shows that are on make you think you’re a moron when you watch them…that’s if you try to watch them? The ridiculous shows that are on are just awful. Please bring back Dallas.
How can anyone watch the 4 networks? This has got to be a real waste of time. I never need or want to watch anything on these channels. TV has hit bottom and the 4 networks are at the bottom. Will they drag the cable channels down with them? Looks like it. We need big changes here. Some good direction is in order. Dallas being cancelled is directly a result of TV’s downward spiral.
Yes, TV viewing is way down. Is it any wonder? They cancel great shows like Dallas and put on horrible shows like the stupid theory etc. I shouldn’t have to remind anyone how awful these shows are. They stink for themselves. When the food is bad, you go to a different restaurant y’know? Hint…video on demand maybe??
Having Dallas to watch again would really shake up TV viewing. It’s so sad that TV can’t support a quality production anymore. There must be something wrong with the networks. I think they work too much psychoanalysis into how they pick their shows. They seem to have lost contact with what is real…what people like. It’s no wonder TV viewing is so low now.
