This will be the first full season of Dallas without Larry Hagman’s JR Ewing. Can the cast and producers continue to draw viewers and solid ratings without their quintessential bad guy? Will the new Dallas be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned to find out.
Airing on Monday nights, Dallas continues to follow the machinations of the dysfunctional and powerful Ewing clan. The cast includes Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo, Brenda Strong, Patrick Duffy, Linda Gray, Mitch Pileggi, Emma Bell, Kuno Becker, and Juan Pablo Di Pace.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Final season averages: 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.92 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Reference point: The second season of the new Dallas averaged a 0.8 demo rating and 2.67 million viewers.
Cable ratings are typically released within a day or so of the show’s airing, except for in the case of weekends and holidays. They are sometimes harder to come by so there may be occasional delays or gaps.
What do you think? Do you still like the Dallas series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
Update: TNT has cancelled Dallas after three seasons. Details here.
Yes, Dallas was the very best. Sorry to say, but in observing tv since Dallas was cancelled, tv has gone down a rat hole. It wasn’t Dallas’s fault that it was cancelled. It was all the networks and advertisers combined. They made tv this way. Loaded with commercials virtually unbridled. Uncaring about anything but the bottom line. Like I said, Dallas was the very best. A show like that is too good for tv as it is now.
When Dallas was on it’s run back in the 70’s and 80’s, tv had better Summer rerun seasons than the prime season has now. What a difference too many watered down channels make. Watered down shows but beefed up commercials. So bad…so bad.
The stuff that’s on tv now…you’d think it was Summer. So this is the prime time of the season? Ya gotta be kidding. Each year tv gets worse. It won’t be long at this rate until tv will probably implode. And it all started about the time they cancelled Dallas. Isn’t that interesting.
Please, give us a break with the bad stuff in football, the horrible sitcoms and game shows et al. It is so depressing to watch tv go straight to the toilet.
If they would compare tv in the past with today, no one would watch today’s shows at all. BTW Dallas was the king then and was watched by everyone.
To have a truly on demand system of shows would be great. For example, the shows watched would replace these horribly slanted ratings that the networks give. It would show in dollars and cents what we want to watch. That must scare the people who cancelled Dallas.
I haven’t watched the 4 networks…as they call it, local tv…in months. So much propaganda and fake news, slanted to a political perspective. So many cable channels and hardly any of it watchable. Just a terrible situation. When they get the right package available…I’m cutting the cord. I’ve had it with a tv system that cancels a great show like Dallas. That said…the rest is just going down the drain.
We all know that without advertising, we’d have no tv. OK, I get it. But the greed has gone unbridled. On some of these shows, the ads just keep on coming. My thumb is calloused from hitting the fast forward button. Pity those without video recorders. Aren’t there limits to how many commercials they can cram in? You’d think not. Bring back Dallas, please.
Let me see…you have NFL players protesting our anthem, horrible shows loaded with commercials, fake news on highly left leaning newscasts, re-runs of game shows, extremely short lived tv shows… How can tv survive with such crud? And with all this…we don’t have Dallas anymore. No wonder tv is dying.
So this is the time of the season of the latest and greatest tv shows, eh? What, I guess, they call prime or whatever. Gee, a show is on for maybe 9 episodes a year. Are they kidding? And every finale is designed to be the last one. Because we all know what the future will be…cancellation. Makes ya really want to follow these shows, huh… Oh, and they get repeated many times though. Gotta make sure we see those commercials. Man, I miss Dallas…
We are punished by having only shows like the stupid theory and game shows to watch. Makes you wonder if these nework people even watch this garbage themselves. I highly doubt they do. Well, guess what…we don’t watch this garbage either. Please bring back Dallas.
Dallas was a beautiful, magnificent great, great show. Cancelling this show should be punishable by having to watch that ‘the stupid theory’ show night and day for a year. Of course, that is very cruel punishment. But it would fit the crime.
Yes, I miss the greed. Dallas was a great greed show. But it was backed by great family values. Dallas was one in a million. It is and was the most interesting show ever to be on TV. Why, oh why, did they have to cancel it? Makes no sense. Especially when the shows that are on now aren’t even at the same level of excelance. In fact, they’re far, far below. I wish Dallas was back.
When they cancelled Dallas, they took away a staple of tv. TV really needs a show that we can watch and fulfill our viewing. Most of these other shows are aimed at trendy’s. Also, they’re getting more and more violent and sex orientatated.
At least with Dallas all we had was greed. But it was a good greed and family values were dominent. I miss Dallas.
If there was a way to get honest news on TV without the expense of Cable or Satellite, I’d subscribe to that. TV just isn’t worth it any more. When they cancel shows like Dallas, they’ve removed the heart of tv.
If Dallas doesn’t come back soon, the original actors will be too old to participate with the production. This would be so sad. They are the heart of that show. They blended so well with the newer cast. Such a great show. I wish it were back.
