Did you miss Day Break on ABC last night? If so, you’re certainly not alone. We’ve been innundated with emails and traffic from people looking for details on what’s happened to the Taye Diggs series.
For those who don’t know, Day Break has been pulled from primetime by ABC after just six episodes due to low ratings. The on-going storyline is hardly resolved with seven unaired episodes left in the season. ABC has said they will post episodes (one per week) on their website but many people don’t have a powerful enough computer, can’t access the Internet long enough to watch, don’t have a fast Internet connection or, for many other reasons, simply can’t view the episodes. In short, millions of people who could have seen future episodes on free network television, will never see this excellent series — and we think the decision-makers should know.
So, we’re inviting you to sign a petition that asks the network and the production companies (Gross Entertainment and Touchstone Television) to release the series so that more people can see it — to return the series to network TV or at the least, to release it on DVD. With enough interest, there could even be a second season or a movie.
Let your friends, neighbors and co-workers know — anyone who misses Day Break — where they can find this petition. Naturally, the more names are collected, the better.
To sign the petition, fill out the “comments” box below. You only need to leave your name, city and state (or country). You may leave comments if you wish but please try to keep them civil. We’ll be monitoring the petition to ensure that it stays clean of spam or inappropriate comments. Let’s save Day Break!
Please note, due to the overwhelming response, 5,000 comments have been archived (for bandwidth issues).
To ABC, Gross Entertainment & Touchstone Television:
cc: Taye Diggs
We, the undersigned have enjoyed much of your programming, particularly the outstanding Day Break series. We have enjoyed the Taye Diggs series each week and are dismayed that it has been pulled from the primetime schedule.
We believe that the ratings have not accurately shown the show’s popularity for success. After just six episodes, we believe that Day Break was not given enough time to fully establish a potentially huge audience. Please remember that many very popular shows like MASH, 24 and Cheers were not immediate hits.
We understand that ABC is posting the remaining episodes online but, for a variety of reasons, millions of people are not able to see these episodes — resulting in lost viewership for you and disappointment and frustration for them.
We respectfully request that you return Day Break to network television and to consider continuing production of further episodes or even a film. At the very least, we ask that you make the existing episodes available to a wider audience via a DVD release.
Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration.
The Undersigned fans of Day Break
I live in Wales in the UK and I cant even get these episodes on-line.
Daybreak was brilliantly acted and directed and I think it is very shortsighted to cancel such a good show, when a large amount of TV these days are rubbish.
Bring it back or at least distribute it on DVD.
PLEASE!!!
Bad news!!! Taye Diggs recently appeared on Grey’s Anatomy and is cast in the spin-off of that show due out this fall. Without its star, no chance for a season 2 of Day Break!! COME ON ABC…THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS RELEASE THE DVD!!!!!!!!!
Really, I love this show a lot. It was interesting and smart and Taye Diggs was awesome in it. Please at least get it out on DVD!
This show should not be pulled. Why tease people with great material and then pull it before it should be done???
My 15 year old son and I have spent the last 13 weeks watching and enjoying the show on the Bravo channel here in the UK. Great stuff, entertaining and considerably more intelligent than the usual dross. Didn’t realise the USA had not been able to see it except on the net until I did a search. Are all TV execs brain dead? Lets keep churning out reality shows and forget about entertainment. Another series (the door was left open with Chads escape) would be great. PS Adam Baldwin, fine actor that he is, is a bit of a Jonah… Read more »
Just watched the last episode on Bravo in the UK. This series is superb. I enjoyed every episode and want to see a second series please!!
I just watched the finale, and I really loved it. Though I wish you hadn’t cancelled it so prematurely, I’m just glad that the remaining episodes were posted online. Thanks for that, ABC. Day Break was a wonderful series, with a great cast, great writing, a lot of real suspense, and some interesting plot twists (a few of which, unfortunately, were never resolved satisfactorily.)Hopefully the series will be released on DVD soon. I believe it will sell a lot of copies, especially while it’s still fresh in our minds, and because there are many people who enjoyed it that have… Read more »
This is one of the best series on television. I just watched the whole season, and I would’ve watched it when it was on but I got lost in other shows. I simply lost track of when it was on.
what’s wrong with you people.
One of the best show’s of the season
very enjoyable drama series…
look forward to watching it…
its a shame the network have cancelled the series…
I’m incredibly disappointed to hear that the show was cancelled. I know it was very popular while it aired here in the UK on Bravo.
My family and I absolutely loved the show. The story, the characters, the numerous plot-twists that kept you guessing; it was incredible.
If it is possible, I think releasing the show on DVD would be a good course of action. Allow the public another chance and who knows, it may pull a Family Guy and become incredibly popular. I don’t see why it shouldn’t. It deserves all the praise it can get.
we need season 2!!!!
This was a good show with great actors. ABC would do well to bring it back.
I can believe this show got canceled…I completely love the show and I could pay for a channel that only had one show on one day in the week if it was to be this show. Man….PLEAS get your heads straightened up and go through with another season. This show is so packed with…everything that the audience can barely dare to breath or blink during it. The show can pause any minute and it will have a cliff hanger – it’s SO full with entertainment….PLZ bring it back..PLZZZZ!
daybreak what a series have just seen watched the last episode here in the uk on bravo who managed to SHOW the whole season (ABC TAKE NOTE) am really dissapointed to find out there is no plans as yet for another season. The best series on tv for quite a while and is just as good as lost and 24 if not better!!!
C’mon you faceless tv execs make plans for another season, good cast, great plot, good twists and Taye diggs made this drama what it is,
