As previously reported, FX Networks cancelled its series order for an animated Marvel’s Deadpool TV show on FXX, from Donald Glover and his brother, Stephen Glover, due to the old saw, “creative differences.” After the cancellation news broke, speculation arose that Donald Glover was just too busy with his other projects, including FX‘s Atlanta TV series and his rap career as Childish Gambino, as well as the Solo: A Star Wars Story and live-action Lion King feature films.
While that might seem like a reasonable assumption, Donald Glover soundly debunked it, on Twitter, this morning. He tweeted a long thread, which contains a 15-page script mock-up entitled, “FINALE,” for FXX’s Deadpool: The Animated Series. It suggests racism plays into the FXX cancellation, makes some political and cultural points, and even features the recently departed Sudan, the last male White Rhinoceros (and maybe implicates someone for biting Beyoncé). Check it out.
