You’re a bad dog baby, but while I still want you around, the Alphabet Network apparently differs. ABC has cancelled the Downward Dog TV show after just one season. Creator Samm Hodges announced the bad news on Twitter, tonight. Excuse us while we get a newspaper and swat ABC on the nose.
An ABC sitcom, Downward Dog stars Allison Tolman, Lucas Neff, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Barry Rothbart, Siovhan Christensen, Ayden Mayeri, Andrew Gorell, Sam Hodges (voice), and Ned the dog. The sitcom centers on Nan (Tolman), and is narrated by her philosophically inclined and rather forlorn dog, Martin (voiced by Hodges). Martin tells Nan’s story from the perspective of woman’s best friend. The series explores the ups and downs of modern-day human life, through the eyes of a devoted dog.

The good news is, Hodges tweeted that he and Killen aren’t giving up on the Downward Dog TV series. Check it out.

Downward Dog: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Downward Dog is averaging a 0.84 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.19 million viewers. It’s not the lowest performing ABC TV show, but it didn’t make a big impression.

I think when you start a show the beginning of vacations, you need to give people a chance to watch it. I cannot believe this Smart, Funny show that my family, friends, and our dogs like to watch has been cancelled, while ABC keeps crap like the Bachelor in Paradise which is disgusting, on the air. Another night of the week we will NOT be watching ABC!!

How can you cancel such a great show, the dogs voice was the best, I laughed every time he spoke. ABC needs better shows like this one, instead of the stupid reality shows with people of no talent. ABC you suck!!!
I absolutely love this show. I could listen to the dogs voice all day. All the crappy shows you have on of course one that is cute and no drama you would get rid of. So happy I have others stations to choose from. Don’t need ABC. You suck!
It was a swset show – just perfect for summer. I thought it would be swallowed up in the fall schedule, but hoped folks would tune in for something new and fresh. Oh well.

Loved this show! Quirky, different, with real characters. People you see in your neighborhood daily. Think it would have done much better if it premiered in the fall instead of a late, late season replacement. Even my dog watched it with me. He actually knows who Martin is. Guess originality looses. Should have been a reality show—- Doglerette, Dogs got Talent, Ameridog Idol, Dancing with the Dogs…….
