The first female champion of the FOX MasterChef Junior TV series has been cast in the Dream Team TV series pilot at ABC. Addison Osta Smith is not just the first girl junior MasterChef, she is also the youngest winner in the show’s history. Smith nabbed the title in the fourth season of the children’s competitive cooking show, this January.
In Dream Team, Smith will play Miley. Deadline describes the character as, “…a fantastic soccer player who is built like a spark plug and recruited to join [a] dream team.” Nurse Jackie‘s Betty Gilpin has also been cast, in the role of Robin.
Justin Long stars as Marty Schumacher, a sporting goods store manager and veteran club soccer coach. Described as an eternal optimist, and a “damn good” coach, Marty takes on a diverse team of eight year old players and their ragtag parents.
Michael Mosley plays Rick Johnson, a soccer trying to get his daughter a winning team. Lindsey Kraft has been cast as Michaela. The character is described as “a gentle soul” who hesitant about letting her daughter play. Michelle Buteau is set as Olga Diaz, a competitive mom who will do what it takes, to get her daughter a spot on the team.
Dream Team is written and executive produced by Will & Grace‘s Bill Wrubel and Kari Lizer. Lizer created The New Adventures of Old Christine, which was cancelled by CBS after five seasons. Wrubel is a vet of Ugly Betty and Modern Family. Mark Buckland is directing the pilot.
What do you think? How do you like the cast of the Dream Team TV show pilot, so far? If ABC orders Dream Team to series, do you plan to check it out? Let us know, below.
this girl is so annoying she drives me nuts!
Goes to show how fake Masterchef Junior is. Everyone’s suspicions that Addison was just an actress that couldn’t really cook but was good at delivering lines made up by the producers has now been confirmed. Sadly for Addison, her reputation has been in the gutter and this only makes it worse. One has to wonder why the show wanted her to win so bad when much more skilled and deserving young chefs were sent home for no reason.
Go Addison! But keep up your great culinary skills. You did a great job, and I was rooting for you to win Master Chef Jr. Now you have achieved another milestone, at a young age. Good luck with your new endeavors!
Congratulations, Addison!
