It looks like the magic is over for the three ladies of Eastwick. ABC network has decided against ordering any additional episodes of the supernatural series, effectively cancelling it.
Eastwick revolves around three women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, and Jaime Ray Newman) who meet at a wishing fountain and become friends. Soonafter, mysterious Darryl Van Horne (Paul Gross) moves to town and unleashes powers within the ladies. The cast also includes Ashley Benson, Johann Urb, Jon Bernthal, Sara Rue, and Veronica Cartwright.
The show got off to a slow start on September 23rd with a 3.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.5 million total viewers. The second installment fell to a 2.3 in the demo and 6.57 million viewers. The third week fell again to a 1.8 and 5.14 million.

In the weeks that followed, the ratings didn’t get any better and more frequently got worse. Last week, Eastwick hit an all-time low of 1.5 in the demo and 4.4 million.
ABC has opted to pull the show from the schedule for two weeks. This Wednesday, it’s replaced by the Country Music Awards. Next week, it’s being bumped for an interview special called In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts: Janet Jackson. Though Eastwick is scheduled to return on Thanksgiving eve with a new episode, the supernatural drama won’t be around for long after that.
ABC has decided not to order any additional episodes of Eastwick, effectively cancelling the series after 13 episodes. It’s unknown if the last episode will wrap up the ongoing storylines. For now, ABC plans to air all six remaining installments but, if the ratings keep declining, the network could easily pull the series before that happens.

This is rediculous, I watch this show with my 11 year old daughter every week! We were CRUSHED to hear its canceled! They talk about ratings and numbers and that only 4point something milion people watched, well what about us!!! We are 4 point million people who don’t matter to the network execs! Its not fair! I love EASTWICK and my daughter and I were so excited to see how it all played out. Now we will have to always wonder or make our own ending up! This is truely rediculous!
First of all there are not 13 episodes. I just finished watching the 9th, and there wasn’t a promo for the 10th. I went on Imbd and saw that it ended at episode 9. Also Eastwick has an 8.1/10 rating, which should most definitely keep it on ABC. This show is creative and interesting, and I love it. There are plenty of dimwitted, boring shows on TV that have low ratings, and yet they do not get cancelled. Honestly I look forward to watching new episodes every Wednesday. ABC repeatedly cancels good show without giving them a fair run or, in the case of Eastwick, inexplicably not promoting. To describe ABC’s programming as ‘moronic’ is far too charitable.
But I suppose the more appropriate expletives would be, well, inappropriate. (?)
I think the only reason this show didn’t do well is its time slot. It was a great show, with a storyline people are familiar with, and the cast worked really well together!! Too bad. I really enjoyed it…
I really enjoy watching this show. I think that the storyline is great. The way the epsiodes end makes me sooo excited to see what’s going to happen the next week. I think that ABC needs to give the show a chance. I think that the show had a crazy start and was unexpected, but the show has really developed over the past episodes and it would kill the shows audience if we are left with no answers! I think the show has been cancelled because they did not advertise enough. I love the show but I knew after the second eposide that it would get cancelled because there was not enough hype. I talked to my friends and family about the show and they had never heard of it. They had better wrap up the show in the final episode. I have had it with these darn executives teasing us with shows and then snatching them away without an proper ending. I am so upset that they are canceling Eastwick!! I LOVE this show and now, it’s getting REALLY GOOD!! Come on ABC, KEEP IT ON THE AIR!!
I love Eastwick, they are finally getting to the back stories of the characters and now they are cancelling it, the people who actually watch it watch it weekly. I haven’t missed a episode and it’s one of the shows i actually look forward to watching on Wednesdays , it’ll be sad and stupid of the channel to cancel it. Compared to the other shows that it would be so much better to cancel, i’m just flabbergasted.
Take some of the freaking reality shows off the air…stop pandering to the same demographic…Eastwick is whimsical, interesting and with great characters. 4 weeks is not enough time to give these shows a chance. This is a great one. Give us some lighthearted dramas. Enough with the Law and Order, CSI dramas. The one thing I don’t want to see after a hard enough day is some crime drama to depress me further. Every time I get interested in a new series, they cancel it, what’s up? First it was Pushing Daisies now Eastwick, these are “light hearted” fun shows. I think that the 10:00 PM time slot has alot to do with the low ratings, myself and most people have to be to work at an early hour. I enjoy Eastwick to the extent of staying up the extra hour.
ABC sure hyped up and put “V” in a GREAT time slot, why not try it with Eastwick and see the ratings soar!
