How long will Empire reign? In a recent AdWeek article, FOX co-CEO Gary Newman said the network hopes for many more seasons of the hit primetime drama.
Empire is currently in the middle of its second season and was renewed for a third back in January.
Regarding the show’s future, Newman said FOX wants to “sustain” its popularity for as long as possible:
It’s really in the storytelling. The characters are rich. The world is rich. We’re not looking to have the greatest two-year run; we’re looking to sustain.”
Showrunner Ilene Chaiken added that the season two finale will set up season three:
Eighteen episodes of Empire is like 22 episodes of any other show. When you see our finale, you’ll see a lot about how Season 3 is going to go.”
