A staple of cable TV for the past four seasons, Syfy has officially renewed Eureka for a fifth year.
The TV show revolves around a top-secret community that’s home to the nation’s most brilliant scientists (and their families) so they can be free to work on new inventions. The cast has included Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson, Joe Morton, Jordan Hinson, Erica Cerra, Neil Grayston, Ed Quinn, Chris Gauthier, Debrah Farentino, Matt Frewer, and Niall Matter.
Here’s the official press releases about the renewal…
SYFY PICKS UP HIT SERIES EUREKA FOR 5th SEASON
NEW YORK, NY – August 17, 2010 – Syfy is greenlighting its hit original dramedy Eureka for a 5th season, it was announced today by Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions, which produces the series.
Eureka seems like any other cozy, Pacific Northwest town, but is actually a secret community of geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research. What they’ve unwittingly created is a place where anything imaginable can happen… and does. Eureka stars Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Joe Morton, Erica Cerra, Neil Grayston, Niall Matter, James Callis and features Jordon Hinson. Co-creator Jaime Paglia and Bruce Miller are Executive Producers.
Since Eureka’s 4th season premiere on July 9, 2010, and with the most recent Live +7 data factored in, the show is averaging a 2.2 HH rating and more than 3 million total viewers per week (1,335 million Adults 18-49 and 1,531 million Adults 25-54).
In addition to great ratings, Eureka has also achieved new creative heights including: a time-altering storyline that has reset the series raising both the drama and stakes for the main characters; the addition of James Callis (Battlestar Galactica) as the new character ‘Dr. Charles Grant’; a first-ever crossover episode with Syfy’s Warehouse 13, a top-notch lineup of special guest stars including Ming-Na, Jaime Ray Newman, Ed Quinn, Wil Wheaton, Jamie Kennedy, Chris Parnell, Matt Frewer and Felicia Day; and a recently announced holiday episode slated to air in December.
“Eureka remains a steadfast performer for Syfy with its superb cast and perfect blend of drama, comedy and eye candy,” said Stern. “Given what Jaime, Bruce and their entire team have done collectively to reinvent the show this year, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for season 5.”
Eureka airs Friday nights at 9:00PM ET/PT on Syfy.

Thrilling! My absolute favorite show! So glad it is going to a 5th season. Hope it makes it to 10. THIS IS THE BEST TV ON TV!!!!!!!!!!!.
Just now beginning Warehouse 13, and it looks like it is going to be great as well. These shows are great!
I am very happy to find out that one of the best shows on tv is coming back.I have watched it from day one. Please dont take it off the air like has been done to a lot of other good shows.
One of the best written shows on TV. The Episode names are great. Look foward to watching every week and own all seasons out (watch them too). Keep it going
Of course I want this show back! 😀 i’ve bought cd’s of it and watch it again and again I totally love this show! My whole family and I watched this and the cast is just stellar!
*Sometimes I can’t even do my homework but it’s fine. Syfy helps me in my college training :D*
I may not understand all those science stuff but the plot line amuses me so much that I am proud to say that I have learnt what it is and can discuss it with others :DDD
god love it 😀
when? thank goodness it’s going to be back but as with other intermittent series like Burn Notice, sure would be nice to know when to expect it.
thank god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this show! There’s nothing else like it. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL IT!! I look forward to it every week and am sad when the season is over. I wish the season lasted longer. That’s my only complaint with cable programming. Their shows either have less episodes or they split them up which drives me crazy!! You get 8 – 10 episodes then they break for up to 6 mo. then air the rest. I wish they all ran at once like network tv does.
I’ve been hooked since episode 1 and have all my family into it.Please keep renewing its the only show I cant wait to see plus I have to find out what happens to Zane and Jo!
Got my daughter and her husband started on it. they live in Alaska and love it. Got the previous episodes on tape to catch up. DON’T CANCEL It is a great show, and one of the most original written and acted on tv. I LOVE IT.
Our family has been watching it since day 1 and we love, love, love it!!! So much fun. We are very glad they are renewing!
I am happy ! it is a very entertaining show! I have rented the first 2 season to recap the storyline
The 08/20/10 episode was wonderful! Joe Morton did a fab Directing job. And, the trailer for the 08/27 ep has me salivating! It’ll be so great to see one of my fav characters again. The creators have really put new life into the show. I’m delighted to have another season to look forward to.
Yeah!!! I’ve always wondered if I’m the only one who watches. Each year when EW does its summer series preview issue, it NEVER mentions Eureka.
I’m thrilled! I love this show!
