Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Excuse me but cancelling The Family is the most disrespectful thing I have experienced. that cliffhanger is NOT the way to have a series finale!!!!!! At least put it on Netlfix or another channel.
Yeah, what is wrong with ABC? Leaving “The Family” without an ending is more proof of how networks don’t care what people over 45 want, nor do they care about strong shows.
I am so mad they cancelled this show. I loved it. And the finale was such a great plot for season 2 Now what? Nothing. I hope maube Netflix or Hulu will pick it up. That would be awesome! I’ve gotta see another season of this!
ABC needs to renew The Family!! This was an amazing show!!!!! Left viewers wanting more!!!!! Please please bring it back!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? This show had me begging for more week after week. Why cancel? And even more importantly…why not finish then? At least give the faithful viewers closure. Unbelievable! I am so upset with this decision.

I think The Family should be renewed it ended in way to continue the storyline having Adam still alive and talk to Ben on the phone is a cliffhanger leading into another season. Please bring it back
I cant believe this show has been cancelled … I had no idea it was being cancelled until right after the show ended. Its totally obvious that theres so much more to tje story and super disappointed to be left hanging!!!!
LOVED this show, looked forward to it every Sunday! My sister just told me it was cancelled, I had to check for myself. The ending was fabulous, great writing. I’m SO disappointed to learn the show has been cancelled. What a shame. I hope ABC reconsiders or that someone else picks it up.

I think this is a terrible mistake by ABC to cancel The Family. ThIs show was well written and kept you in suspense. I was so looking forward to the second season. ABC please bring this show bacK. The cast was wonderful and there is so much more of this story to be told. This was one of the best shows on TV. Please bring it back!
