The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

No!!! Do not cancel!!! This is a great show! Crazy enough it has actually educated me on is it is to lose your child!!!
I truly enjoyed this show. The season finale left me wanting to know what happens next. I think marketing of the show could have been a lot better if ABC wanted higher ratings. Bring back The Family! So disappointed it was cancelled!

The Family was honestly the best show on ABC, the finale was INCREDIBLE! I’m so disappointed that they won’t renew it! It’s so disgusting that they’d leave their audience hanging like that 🙁
I just watched the finale on DVR & it ROCKED! Was so HAPPY Adam is alive and was looking forward to next season!! Now I see it was cancelled??? I hope they change their mind!!

Please give it a chance The Family is one of the best new shows! I am SP disappointed that ABC has done this. Once in a while a show take s a lil time to get its footing but 3miilion viewers. Not Bad!!!!!! SAVE THE SHOW
This shows cancellation is a total insult to viewers. My fiance and I loved it and even got other friends into it also. I hope someone else picks the show up and it booms. ABC should be banned for this. I for one will never tune into anything else they air.
