Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Best show on TV since Lost and you cancel it before you even play all the episodes? ABC used to be my favorite channel but they keep canceling the shows I like. What the heck? Who’s making these decisions anyway? Not the fans. Stars and HBO listen to their fans…. Therein lies the difference.
This should not be cancelled, I would like for them to bring it back so we can see what happens.
So disappointed that they cancelled The Family!!!!!! Pray someone else picks it up!!!
At least they could do one more season to give some closure. Even “secrets and lies” gave us answers.
I am beyond frustrated that The Family has been cancelled. It was such a good show with a great cast. So tired of my favorites not lasting. Please bring it back.
There are very few tv shows that cater to intelligence. The Family, and Manhattan, the only two in a long long time and they get canceled.?
As Spokesperson for Television Anonymous, I am beyond baffled by the canceling of the ABC drama The Family! Why on earth would they cancel a show that is by far better than The Catch? I was able to get through 2 episodes of The Catch and barely was able to endure that! I’ve noticed that ABC has a pattern of axing the Sunday night 9pm time slot! I am truly frustrated by this! Every episode has me on the edge of my seat! I have talked to so many people who are just as confused!! With all of the junky reality tv consuming the networks, this was something that really got the attention of many! Please reconsider!!!

I am so upset right now. This was one of my favorite shows on TV. How do we get it back?? ABC has a horrible habit of cancelling all the good shows.
