Doctor Henry Morgan may be immortal but his TV show isn’t. ABC has cancelled the Forever TV series after one season of 22 episodes.
On the Forever TV show, New York City’s star medical examiner (Ioan Gruffudd) can ascertain things that most can not because of his vast experience — he’s been alive for 200 years but can’t figure out the how or the why. The rest of the cast includes Alana de la Garza, Lorraine Toussaint, Donnie Keshawarz, Joel David Moore, and Judd Hirsch.
The series debuted last September to a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.26 million viewers. The ratings grew for episode two but they started falling after that.
Though the Forever series had some very passionate fans, that devotion didn’t translate into positive ratings. The numbers were pretty poor for much of the season and the show ended up averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.93 million viewers.
As a result, ABC has decided against ordering a second season of Forever. The last episode aired earlier this week and unfortunately left viewers with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Did you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a larger audience?
ABC is ignoring viewers outside the 18-49 Demographic… WHAT?!!! Who do their sponsors think are buying their products? The “Boomers” are older than this demographic and believe me, we spend more money than 20 year olds. I loved “Forever”, and would spend my money with its sponsors. But drop Forever, and I won’t be watching ABC at all. No kidding. They have no other shows worth watching.
Please bring this show back. A great crime show without all the gore. Great actors and plots. Again another favorite is gone.
Please bring back the show forever. Love watching the show. Can’t believe ABC would cancel it.
The disappointment with the cancellation of FOREVER was wide spread in our water aerobics class. The class fell apart with all our expression of indignation that ABC could be so stupid. Who made 18-45 the prerequisite of who watches a show????? Give us Senior Citizens some credit for taste. We are slowly out-numbering the young adults. You better start paying attention to us for a change. We hope some other, smarter network will pick it up…..
Why does every good show I find get cancelled?!!! Come on!!!! This is BS!!
I absolutely LOVE this show! It’s my favorite on TV. Please do not cancel it!
4 million viewers is not enough to keep a show on tv?
put it back in abc………!!!!!!!!
This show was amazing. Csi without all the blood and tech. It was nice to have a show for the whole family again.
Please at least give us a final 2 hour ender so all the questions can be answered. He loves her… How does she take it? Does they end up together? When it becomes available I’ll own this series. I don’t own any others, that’s how much inreay like it.
Please.
Other VIEWERS: I looked up the ABC “contact” webpage: http://abc.go.com/feedback, with hope that my comment will make a difference. I selected “I need more info” and posed the question, “what can I do to bring back “Forever”? Then I asked ABC to inform the sponsors that my demographic makes enough money, and I will be their customer if they will bring back “Forever”. ABC only allow a few lines, so keep it on-point!
We have been waiting for a show like Forever and now it’s cancelled. What a disappointment. Loved all the characters, one of the few shows we looked forward too. What a mistake ABC!!!
Geez….my most favorite show since the X Files went off the air years ago. I don’t watch anything else on ABC. I really so wanted to see how their relationship was going to evolved. Maybe another network will pick up the series…one can only hope.
You would think that with all the comments on this article, that ABC would reconsider! Obviously, they don’t read these things.
I’m hoping another network picks it up..
I don’t watch very much on ABC because there isn’t anything worth watching… All they have is reality shows…not a fan. I loved the show “Forever ” way to go… People over 40 watch TV too.
I can’t believe they cancelled a show that was not just fun but intellectual. I loved Henry spouting off on his knowledge of various subjects and the relationship between he and Abe was not just touching, but intriguing with the age switch. I will miss not seeing the relationship between Henry and Jo develop. ABC just can’t handle having a good show. They just like to put on the mind numbing dribble.
Please keep forever on! I too love the show and so do other people I know. I do not know who rank them but this is a really great show love watching it every week.
So sad to see it go. Loved the show. Can you please bring it back!!!!!!!!
