If you’re still smarting because the Mike & Molly TV show was cancelled by CBS, we have some good news for you. FOX is developing a new untitled comedy TV series with Melissa McCarthy and her husband and Ben Falcone.
The duo will executive produce the project, which hails from Warner Bros. Television. Writers Jim Cashman and Mitch Silpa are co-executive producers, Variety reports.
According to the entertainment news outlet, the untitled half-hour, single-camera comedy features, “…an unconventional family that is formed when a successful type-A man and his estranged sister, plus her two children, find themselves not only back in each other’s lives but also living under one roof.” The report does not say McCarthy is attached to act in the potential new show.
Here is more, from Variety:
The project marks the first to be created by Cashman and Silpa. Both are actors and writers who have ties to McCarthy, having appeared in smaller roles in her films including “The Boss,” “Bridesmaids,” “Spy” and “The Heat.” Cashman is an alum of “Saturday Night Live” and Silpa has penned comedy shorts.
For McCarthy and Falcone, the potential series marks the second recent TV project following “Nobodies,” which was recently greenlit at TV Land. The producing duo is repped by CAA.
McCarthy will be back on the small screen when Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life debuts Friday, November 25, 2016 on Netflix.
