There won’t be a second season for the pals on NBC’s Friends with Benefits. The network has cancelled the sitcom after one season on the air.
Friends with Benefits revolves around a group of young Chicago friends. Their relationships are complicated to say the least as they try to find the perfect match for themselves and their friends. The sitcom stars Ryan Hansen, Danneel Ackles, Jessica Lucas, Zach Cregger, and Andre Holland.
Originally slated for mid-season 2010-11, the premiere was delayed until August 2011. It was pretty clear that the network didn’t see a future for the series as they burned episodes off two at a time during a summer run.
Friends with Benefits debuted on August 5th to a poor 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.34 million total viewers. The numbers got worse as the weeks progressed and hit a low of a 0.5 demo rating with just 1.54 million viewers.
The peacock network had one leftover episode by the time the regular 2011-12 season began and they never got around to airing the last episode. Episode 13, titled “The Benefit of Full Disclosure,” was later made available online via iTunes, Amazon and Netflix. It was the second episode directed by The Wonder Years vet Fred Savage.
To no surprise, NBC has cancelled Friends with Benefits so we’ll never find out if the friends ever found their own “happily ever afters.”
What do you think? Did you enjoy this NBC sitcom? Do you think it would have done better and have been renewed if it had aired during the regular season?
Watched the entire series so fast, didn’t even realise I was on the last episode. Can’t believe they cancelled a TV show with a cliffhanger!
I came across this show on netflix and i binged watched it straight through. I liked it alot. Too bad it got cancelled. I wish there were more seasons. I really feel this show would have or even has done better on netflix than on regular television. It came out awhile ago but i just found this show yesterday.
I feel that the show would be way more popular on Netflix. I mean no one even really watches tv and especially a show like this. But I just watched the whole show in a day and it was amazing Cause this is the kind of show you wanna binge watch. SO BRING IT BACK !!
I just binged the entire first season in two days. It was a lot of fun. I would have enjoyed a second season. The plots and the dialogue are totally ridiculous, but that’s what made it great to watch. I think Netflix should bring it back as an original series for them.
I agree! I’m binging it now.
I just watch it in Netflix its amazing and fully recommended to continue. Man, how such fantastic show end up like that. The cast is adorable.
Just finished the season and it was great and funny why did it stop, it should be revived. Definitely a different network might make it better
I found this on netflix and love love love it! please revive this show netflix!
Just found on Netflix and love this show!!! Please make a second season!
I’m watching the show now on Netflix and I’m loving never heard of it prior. But I think had it been on another network it would’ve done better.
Adding to comment —- I feel if Netflix aired a season two it would be extremely popular
Friends found this on Netflix and recommended! Can’t believe there isn’t a season two yes it can be a bit cheesy but who doesn’t love that.. so so gutted as it’s very additive to watch! (Watched the whole season in a day gotta love pj days)
Found this show on netflix today and was surprised at the low ratings. Yes it’s cheesy but it’s feel good when you just wanna relax and not have to think about what’s just happened like all the trending stuff on netflix lately! Really enjoyed the season, finished it all today and sad to see there won’t be another season! Air season 2 just on Netflix- much more popular instead of TV.
I ******* loved the showwwwww with Danneel and Ryannn!!!!
Really enjoyed this show and thought it had a lot of potential – cast was great, writing was fun, & it should have been aired with better timing. Bummed to see it was cancelled.
I need a season 2 ! Make it happen
