Deadline reports Sarah Steele has joined the cast of The Good Wife TV show spin-off at CBS All Access. The young actress recurred as Marissa Gold, daughter of Eli (Alan Cumming) in the original drama starring Juliana Margulies. The 10-episode new edition of The Good Wife premieres in February, 2017.
As previously reported, Christine Baranski is reprising the role of Diane Lockhart and Cush Jumbo is returning as Lucca Quinn. The spin-off picks up a year after the events of The Good Wife TV series finale, “End,” which aired on CBS on May 8. 2016. According to the report, “…the spin-off series will center around an enormous financial scam that has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart’s savings.”
Per Deadline, after Diane and Marissa are, “…forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago’s preeminent law firms.”
According to the report, in the spin-off, Marissa is “a brilliant but scattered millennial,” working as Diane’s secretary, when she develops a penchant for investigating. She will continue in the vein of Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) and Robyn (Jess Weixler).
In a statement to Deadline, creators Robert and Michelle King said, “We’re absolutely thrilled that Sarah will be joining the show. She’s a magnificent comedian with the dramatic skill to keep every scene real.”
