Sad news for Grimm fans. Deadline reports the NBC series will end after its upcoming sixth season.
The drama follows homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who is charged with protecting humans from supernatural creatures. The cast also includes Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.
Rumors that this would be Grimm’s final season have circulated since NBC only ordered 13 episodes for season six and Giuntoli said it could be the last season. Ratings for the series have never been particularly high. Season five received an average of only .89 in the 18-49 demo and 3.943 million viewers.
Season six of Grimm is slated to premiere on January 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
From NBC:
“GRIMM”: The final season begins Friday, Jan. 6, 8-9 p.m.
Closing out an incredibly successful series run and giving viewers a chance to say goodbye over the last 13 episodes, the sixth and final season of NBC’s drama “Grimm” will begin its last chapter with the battle fans have long been waiting for — Nick versus Capt. Renard.
The series, which reached the 100-episode milestone last season, has long been a fan and critical favorite, with the Los Angeles Times calling it “terrific and trendsetting… ‘Grimm’ has become a beacon of solid narrative and a weekly reminder of why monsters matter.” The New York Times said “Grimm” is “engaging, clever, tense, funny and well-paced, featuring a remarkably appealing cast.”
As for events leading into the final season, the nefarious forces of Black Claw have been silenced and Nick (David Giuntoli) faces an all too familiar foe in Capt. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz). Now in the seat of power as the mayor elect of Portland, Renard is poised to bring rise to his own brand of law and order. Nick must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). It will take the full force of Nick and his allies to find a way to bring the peace.
Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) grapple with bringing a child into a new and tumultuous world, and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) faces unsettling identity issues as her former self lurks below the surface.
“Grimm” also stars Russell Hornsby and Reggie Lee.
The series was created by David Greenwalt & Jim Kouf and Stephen Carpenter. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner (“Hollywood Game Night,” ”Hot in Cleveland”) serve as executive producers along with Greenwalt and Kouf. “Grimm” is a Universal Television and Hazy Mills production.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Grimm? Are you sad the series is ending?
I love Grimm!! Don’t take it away. It’s one the best shows on tv. And I’m 59!! I love shows such as Grimm, and have been watching since day 1……
All of the actors are just amazing….Just like all the other channels people start really liking a show and the next thing you know it’s gone……..
Not happy with NBC for this one!!!!
I can’t believe you are taking off the best show on tv. I can’t wait until the next episode comes on. I just want to know why?
Wise up idiots (NBC) u take off all good shows . Wholesome family shows that families can watch together. Something besides reality tv and cop shows or controversial shows that teach our kids all bad things in life. Thanks a lot . Want be watching your network anymore. Every time we find a good show you idiots cancel it. Bring it back . Sincerly a big Grimm fan. Awesome show BRINGITBACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved it. Grimm ending. Bones is ending. What am I going to watch now. Reality TV?
As a SciFi fan…. I Absolutely Love this Show…. I’ll be sorry to see it end….
loved it. Hate to say goodbye.
Why do the always cancel the good shows?? This had so many stories it could still do and was a Friday favorite. Why bother adding new shows if you just going to cancel them on us
Am sad to see the show ending.Gonna miss it
I hope at least it tie up all the stories for the characters. Please don’t keep us hanging at the end
How sad one of the very few good shows left on TV. I’ve toyed with finding something to replace my television as there is nothing good to watch. What a pity many people resort to watching re runs of shows from 25 years ago. Odd, that should tell the powers that be something but apparently it doesn’t penetrate whatever it is that they use for brains.
Yes I am sad this is a great show. However thank for giving us a finale season on how thing will end. By the way it would be nice that Nick and Teresa (Trouble) find out that the are brother and sister.
Another good show bites the dust and probably for some dumb reality show. I looked forward to my Friday nights with all my favourite shows but that is all going by the wayside! I’ve stopped watching CTV because the good shows are gone. Will this channel too come to pass?
I suppose the Neilson ratings amongst the 18 year olds show they don’t watch Grimm. What do 18 year olds know? It’s the older folks that sit in and watch TV! Smarten up NBC please before it’s too late!
I think Grimm is the best show on tv NBC will be sorry they cancelled it.
I am with the others on this site… Rosalie and her werewolf hubby are my favourite couple on TV, bar none!!! Like the others have stated, it makes Friday night a night to go now. Very sad!!!
This is one of the best shows on TV. I never ever comment on these things but I am seriously disappointed with NBC. This show is well written with outstanding actors. There is so much crap on TV being renewed and I can’t fathom this show being cancelled. It is a shame and I will not be watching any shows on NBC. You just lost a viewer for your network. Bring this show back – you need it NBC!
Grimm is my show to watch every Friday. Do not cancel the show. What will I watch, Hawaii Five-O?
Awesome show. I’ve never seen a series with such beautiful, atmospheric sets, dark, rich colors, and fairy tale atmosphere to it. The actors were wonderful and the scripts were thoughtful. Maybe it tanked because it wasn’t ageist, appealing mainly to teenagers and 20-somethings like most of the fantasy crap coming out.
