Sad news for Grimm fans. Deadline reports the NBC series will end after its upcoming sixth season.
The drama follows homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who is charged with protecting humans from supernatural creatures. The cast also includes Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee.
Rumors that this would be Grimm’s final season have circulated since NBC only ordered 13 episodes for season six and Giuntoli said it could be the last season. Ratings for the series have never been particularly high. Season five received an average of only .89 in the 18-49 demo and 3.943 million viewers.
Season six of Grimm is slated to premiere on January 6th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
From NBC:
“GRIMM”: The final season begins Friday, Jan. 6, 8-9 p.m.
Closing out an incredibly successful series run and giving viewers a chance to say goodbye over the last 13 episodes, the sixth and final season of NBC’s drama “Grimm” will begin its last chapter with the battle fans have long been waiting for — Nick versus Capt. Renard.
The series, which reached the 100-episode milestone last season, has long been a fan and critical favorite, with the Los Angeles Times calling it “terrific and trendsetting… ‘Grimm’ has become a beacon of solid narrative and a weekly reminder of why monsters matter.” The New York Times said “Grimm” is “engaging, clever, tense, funny and well-paced, featuring a remarkably appealing cast.”
As for events leading into the final season, the nefarious forces of Black Claw have been silenced and Nick (David Giuntoli) faces an all too familiar foe in Capt. Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz). Now in the seat of power as the mayor elect of Portland, Renard is poised to bring rise to his own brand of law and order. Nick must take a stand to protect his city and those closest to him, especially his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee). It will take the full force of Nick and his allies to find a way to bring the peace.
Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) grapple with bringing a child into a new and tumultuous world, and Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) faces unsettling identity issues as her former self lurks below the surface.
“Grimm” also stars Russell Hornsby and Reggie Lee.
The series was created by David Greenwalt & Jim Kouf and Stephen Carpenter. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner (“Hollywood Game Night,” ”Hot in Cleveland”) serve as executive producers along with Greenwalt and Kouf. “Grimm” is a Universal Television and Hazy Mills production.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Grimm? Are you sad the series is ending?
save Grim!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This and emerald city is what we call family night with our kids. Please don’t end either one! And what a strange place to stop the show… so much unresolved with the mirror thin. We beg you don’t cancel Grimm!!! It’s our favorite!
Yes !!!
Both my wife and I are completely disappointed ……
One of our FAVORITE shows of all time !!!!
Sad day for television AND for viewers alike …..
Please renew the show as my family loves Grimm. Bring it back!!!!
Grimm is one of our all time favorite TV series. Please renew. Thank you
This show is our #1 favorite show. Each week we count the days and hours until it comes on. We have a copy of the original Grimm’s Fairy tales and it has been so much fun to try to see which story the show is from, realizing that they may not even have used one of the tales. The writers were great and the actors made it real. We are heart broken you have canceled GRIMM. Big mistake.
To bad the series is ending. Would like to see it picked up by another broadcaster
I absolutely love this show. I hope another studio can pick it up where it will leave off. Very sad to see it go.
Love love love this show!!! My family never miss this program! Please!!! Someone pick this up! This is a wonderful series! Fantastic stories! !!! Please don’t cancel this series!! Our all time favorite!!
If NBC has to cancel can someone else please pick this show up? This is my all time favorite show! I love all the original monsters!!!!!
Why?Why?Why?
I am also a devoted fan of Grimm ! And hate the thought of it being taken off the air. the network should be ashamed of what they are doing and should renew the series, there are so many ways they can provide story lines the this program-so if the network has a heart at all they would see how much this program means to the watching community. I am soo sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved watching Grimm! The character development was excellent. As we got to know each one better, you realized that none were really perfect, not all good, not all evil. There was always some new situation each week that had to be solved Kudos to the writers. I’m sad to see the series end. What can we do to stop this from happening?
You need to rally people together to contact NBC directly and complain about the cancellation and demand they continue the episodes or end your NBC viewing.
I love this show is can not wait until Grimm comes on the next week. It is so interesting. The story lines are great. Keep me in Spence the monsters are so life like.
My husband and I are big fans of Grimm. We don’t understand WHY the show is not being renewed. We have learned to love each character. Writing is clever/funny. Great cast, great acting. We hope another network will pick up the series.
