NBC is not grim about Grimm. While it hasn’t yet decided whether to cancel the Grimm TV series after season five or renew it for a season six, NBC’s Entertainment Chair, Robert Greenblatt, sounds more positive than negative about the fate of this fantasy police procedural drama.
Greenblatt spoke to The Oregonian‘s Kristi Turnquist during the TCA winter press tour. As quoted below, it sounds like the Peacock Network is more fond than not of this Friday night fright-fest. Brimming with Wesen-ality, Grimm stars: David Giuntoli, Russel Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner, Silas Weir, Mitchell, Sasha Roiz, Claire Coffee, and yes, Bitsie Tulloch.
From OregonLive.com (emphasis ours):
Will “Grimm” be renewed?: The ratings have been down so far in Season 5. When I asked NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt about the show’s future at the recent Television Critics Association Winter 2016 Press Tour, Greenblatt said, “We like ‘Grimm.’ It hasn’t been renewed yet, but it’s a show we love, and it’s actually a big international success for our company.” Greenblatt added, “I think ‘Grimm’ isn’t going anywhere. Which is a hedging sort of statement. We haven’t decided. But we like ‘Grimm.'”
Airing on Fridays, which is traditionally a low viewership night, especially for the advertiser-prized younger segment of viewers, “Grimm” picks up viewers via delayed viewing, Greenblatt said.
“I think the numbers have gone down a little bit because of that,” he said. “But there are some really great ideas for future shows. ‘Grimm”s OK.”
But as Greenblatt said, that’s not a confirmation of renewal, so we’ll have to wait and see.
The season 5B premiere of Grimm airs tomorrow, Friday, January 29, 2016, at 9:00pm ET/PT. Check out this article teasing Grimm‘s return, chock full of new season five photos.

WOW! A suit with taste.
There is no doubt in my mind as to Grimm’s popularity; it has been my Friday night staple and now my monday night Fav’s are competing (Originals, and Hawaii 5-0) in the same time slot. I now avidly watch TV one night a week, with Grimm being the prefential for new episodes. I am bummed the Originals did not stay where they were; Hawaii 5-0 thankfully repeats. Why can’t they air at different times???? 5-0 at 8pm, Grimm at 9pm, and Originals at 10pm (in my perfect world). Or better, quit competing for the SAME NIGHT AT THE SAME TIME… Read more »
We LOVE Grimm! I don’t think it’s run out of ideas and steam just yet. Bringing “Juliette” back will really shake things up. There’s so many dangling story lines left to work on. What is going on with Nick and Adelind’s baby? Where’s the “Royal” baby that Adelind had before? Will “Juliette” or whatever that creature is be for good or bad? Save GRIMM!!
I like the show and look forward to see it on Friday nights. I think they could increase viewer-ship though if they went back to finish some of the original story lines that were dropped, i.e. the 5 “keys” and even Adalind’s daughter “Diana”.
Love Grimm. Best show on TV. All great actors
Grimm has made the fatal “shark jumping” mistake of resurrecting the dead. I loved the beginning of Grimm, it had so much promise of a truly new story. However, storylines took wrong turns leading us into an outdated alias clone to save the Grimm. I wanted Grimms to be the heroes in this story. The journey to this had flaws….spending painfully long times on storylines, inconsistencies, but I had hope it would go back to the roots. But this wild international espionage turn ( alias?) is heading the wrong way. If they do spare this show, I suggest bringing on… Read more »
Five seasons with bad ratings… Why not six indeed?
NBC is so deep in trying to deflect from its inability to find even a single hit show it may have convinced itself it can’t get good ratings because of the times…
Grimm’s really entertaining, and the last of the shows we (3 generations of our family) regularly watch on NBC. If they dump it, I sure hope it’s picked up elsewhere.
LOVE< LOVE< LOVE Grimm. keep it weird, keep it Portland, Keep it on!!!!
Please don’t cancel Grimm!
I love Grimm. I hope it is not cancelled.I Love the cast, storylines, scenery and sets, and music. I just love the show and hope it continues.
DO NOT cancel GRIMM, PLEASE!! I LOVE this show. It is difficult to know when it is on, because it just is not on every week. so different, so intriguing, and so humorous at times. Please renew it for many more seasons.
i think that they will cancell Grimm this time.
love the show, went back during the hiatus and watched seasons 1-4 on the fire stick. Thank GOODNESS I had something to watch. My daughter and I can not wait for Friday night!
They keep skipping weeks, I never know when Grim is going to be on anymore I love the show and would watch it if it was on everyday of the week.
