The Grinder rests his case for good. TVLine reports FOX has cancelled the sitcom after one season.
The freshman comedy starred Rob Lowe as a TV lawyer who moves back to his hometown to practice law for real with his attorney brother (Fred Savage). William Devane, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, and Natalie Morales also starred.
Though the premiere performed well in the ratings, numbers dropped over the course of season one, with the show receiving an average of .75 in the 18-49 demo and a total of 2.176 million viewers.
Rob Lowe confirmed the cancellation on his Twitter today:
#TheGrinder was not renewed by @FOXTV It was unapologetically original, smart, funny and had a murder's row of talent. #GrinderRests.

The writing had really cute banter and the actors had excellent timing with their lines. We thought the young son was a standout on his lines too. I admit i wondered how producers could continue to plot lines beyond the intro season, but i figured writers this good could keep coming up with ideas to dazzle… Read more »
