Case closed. Court is dismissed. Harry’s Law has been cancelled by NBC after two seasons and 34 episodes.
Harry’s Law revolves around Harriet Korn, a no-nonsense attorney who will take on just about any case as long as she believes in a person’s innocence. Over the course of two seasons, the cast has also included Nate Corddry, Karen Olivo, Justine Lupe, Mark Valley, Christopher McDonald, Brittany Snow, and Aml Ameen.
The show debuted in January 2011 to a 2.2 in the 18-49 demographic with 11.07 million viewers. It was a mediocre demo rating but total viewership was impressive and when you’re NBC, that’s better than nothing. The ratings dwindled downward pretty quickly and the show ended the season with a 1.4 demo rating and 7.75 million.
The series was on the bubble for cancellation but NBC brought it back for a second season. For season two, the show underwent some cast changes, no doubt in hopes of improving the ratings. It didn’t work.

This season, Harry’s Law has averaged a meager 1.1 rating in the desirable demographic and 7.89 million viewers.
On our NBC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative success of shows on the network, Harry’s Law has a “D+” grade and is one of the lowest-rated shows on NBC.
While it’s the second most-watched show on the network, advertisers want to advertise on shows that attract a younger demographic and so the networks must cater to them.
Sadly, the peacock network has cancelled Harry’s Law this time around and the series finale will air next Sunday night. Hopefully the show won’t end on a cliffhanger, making it all the harder for fans to say goodbye.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Harry’s Law go? Which season did you like better? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

I hope the tv people are paying attention to all the comments. This is a really good show, 2nd most watched on their channel and they cancel it? Hope it’s not replaced by a reality show, that would be sad.
How can you cancel a show like Harry’s Law?? It is one of a few good shows on that is not dangleing 44 DD”s in you face all night long!!!!My God, it is funny, hits on real issues, intelligent and can even bring a tear to the eye. This other garbage you are keeping is fine if you are brainless. I watch very little T.V. anymore because there is hardly anything worth while. I never miss Harry’s Law. If you are not over 40 you are not eligible to enjoy a show!!! The over 50 population is the largest there… Read more »
Harry’s Law is the second most watched show on NBC (which isn’t much of an honor) yet does not cater to the 18-49 demo that advertisers demand. When are these advertising agencies going to wake up and realize that people are living a lot longer than when Don Draper was running an agency and that their demos need to change. I’ve been in broadcasting for 32 years, yet I am lost to figure out how ad agencies and rating services arrive at their conclusions. In their world, anyone over 49 is useless.
You should watch the second to last episode of Boston Legal (second to last if you count the two-part last episode as the last episode) . They cover this issue very well about how old people watch the most TV, spend the most money, and have the most money, but they are ignored.
Man, with the impending cancellation of Awake, and the definite cancellation of Harry’s law, the only thing sorta left on NBC is SVU, which is getting quite long in the tooth. NBC hasn’t been relevant since the 00’s and with their decisions of late, it’s obvious they will continue to slide. Its amazing that anyone in programming at NBC still has a job, they can’t seem to get anything in order these days. ABC is “ok”, and certainly “CBS” dominates traditional fare – once Awake and Harry’s Law are gone (this weekend for HL and too soon for Awake) if… Read more »
I LOVED the first season. The stories were good as was the talent. Why they let Aml Ameen and Brittany Snow go I will never know, but it definitely had an effect on the show.
I agree 100% — the first season was really good! the office was in a shoe store on the ‘bad’ side of the city . . . and Ameen & Snow added alot to the story line. Now, too corporate like every other ‘law’ show therefore, I haven’t watched this at all this season!
I cannot believe they cancel a good show like Harry’s Law, yet they keep shows like Parks and Recreation, Smash and Whitney on, all because of younger viewers who don’t have the spending power of older viewers??? I am officially boycotting NBC shows
I agree. NBC used to be the only network I watched but that has been a long time ago. The only reason I watched it at all was for Harry’s Law. I will not be watching anything on NBC again, their line up is terrible and ALL of the reality shows are ridiculous, I hate all of them.
There is finally a show that ISN’T a reality show, that has current topic, that isn’t afraid to handle delicate subjects, and it CANCELLED????? What is NBC thinking? My husband and I have very little we watch on TV, but Harry’s Law was one of our favorites. Very sorry to see it has not been renewed. We just hope some other network picks it up.
I can’t believe NBC is canceling Harry’s Law. My husband and I love that show the only show’s I like on TV is Harry’s law and The Firm. I don’t want reality shows and all the sex and violence. Don’t cancel the show.
Every time we find a show that we really like, they cancel it. We loved Mark Valley in his prior series (Human Target) and way back to Keen Eddie, but his talents were wasted on this show. I loved Kathy Bates’ role. But have to admit the story line with the lawyer with a nail in his head was very wierd.
Why do they cancel good shows like this one? I guess there isn’t enough sex, violence, and raunchy language. Some of the shows these days are just disgusting, this one doesn’t fit in those categories so it gets cancelled. What a bunch cwap.
I can’t believe that NBC cancelled Harry’s Law!! I watched both seasons and knew that some of the changes to the cast would not work but I still enjoyed the show. This is probably the 2nd time that I have been disappointed with NBC. The 1st time is when they cancelled ” I’ll fly away” and now Harry’s Law. There is a need for a show or programming for a mature viewer 45 and above!
Please reconsider another season…
David E. Kelley is a great writer and the cast is outstanding. Very entertaining and worthwhile as was Picket Fences. NBC has to reconsider this move…lots of people enjoy this program.
Well NBC just dropped to the bottom of my channel watching list. I just don’t understand how they could even consider cancelling Harry’s Law. I guess the only people that matter are the ones between the ages of 20-30! The heck with everyone else. Kathy Bates is so good on this show she deserves an award. The cast is great and the story lines are current. I am really disappointed in NBC. Shame on you!
I can’t believe it. Please don’t take it off the air
leave it nbc, maybe they should put sarah palin on again, not!
