Case closed. Court is dismissed. Harry’s Law has been cancelled by NBC after two seasons and 34 episodes.
Harry’s Law revolves around Harriet Korn, a no-nonsense attorney who will take on just about any case as long as she believes in a person’s innocence. Over the course of two seasons, the cast has also included Nate Corddry, Karen Olivo, Justine Lupe, Mark Valley, Christopher McDonald, Brittany Snow, and Aml Ameen.
The show debuted in January 2011 to a 2.2 in the 18-49 demographic with 11.07 million viewers. It was a mediocre demo rating but total viewership was impressive and when you’re NBC, that’s better than nothing. The ratings dwindled downward pretty quickly and the show ended the season with a 1.4 demo rating and 7.75 million.
The series was on the bubble for cancellation but NBC brought it back for a second season. For season two, the show underwent some cast changes, no doubt in hopes of improving the ratings. It didn’t work.

This season, Harry’s Law has averaged a meager 1.1 rating in the desirable demographic and 7.89 million viewers.
On our NBC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative success of shows on the network, Harry’s Law has a “D+” grade and is one of the lowest-rated shows on NBC.
While it’s the second most-watched show on the network, advertisers want to advertise on shows that attract a younger demographic and so the networks must cater to them.
Sadly, the peacock network has cancelled Harry’s Law this time around and the series finale will air next Sunday night. Hopefully the show won’t end on a cliffhanger, making it all the harder for fans to say goodbye.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Harry’s Law go? Which season did you like better? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

[…] Harry’s Law was the most-watched scripted TV show on NBC this season, the network cancelled it. As I’ve suggested in the past, advertisers favor shows that attract those in the 18-49 […]
Boo to NBC for canceling such a well written and clever show. Cancelled because it doesn’t appeal to a younger audience? Shame on you NBC for forgetting your older demographic groups. Get rid of Biggest Loser, the Voice, the Office or 30 Rock. The latter two should be given the dignity of being cancelled while still relatively good shows. Both shows have bee going downhill for several seasons. Loser is exactly that, a loser. While once an encouraging motivating show it has fallen to cheap drama among the contestants and has lost it’s curb appeal. The Voice it speaks for… Read more »
THEY JUST HAVE NO TASTE IF THEY CANCEL THIS WELL WRITTEN, WELL
ACTED SERIES!!
Wow, what a bummer! Lets make sure we take out all the witty shows that really bring users in and leave shows like Jersey Shore and biggest looser! Im so tired of this network dropping shows! Get your sh** together already! Harrys Law is a great show and I am thoroughly disappointed by this. You suck NBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone who would vote against this show has no desire to watch a witty, smart group of attorneys who kept us entertained week after week. It is truely dissapointing to see a good series cancelled because the networks listen to mindless people who want to watch reality and game shows rather than learn something from dramas that speak to real work issues. I do not like to watch new series just for the fact that you will most like cancel them to. why get involved in a show that will not return next year. Your network program directing is a… Read more »
It was hard, but I kept track of when it was playing and where….I loved this show, but apparently, all the moving around and long time between some episodes was too much…it was as if NBC didn’t want to give this great show a chance!…Oh well, I’ll be saving money because soon I can cancell my cable.
It went down in ratings because they took it off for a long hiatus and then brought it back on a different night. Of course the ratings are going to go down. What was NBC thinking? Just like ABC did with Lost, they took it off for too long and then moved the time slot. What idiot thinks that works? A lot of shows lost their demographic when they were moved to another night or took too long of a hiatus. Lost, V etc and now Harry’s Law. Get a clue NBC.
One of the other networks should pick it up and run with it…Put it in a good time slot and watch the ratings soar!
I do not understand why you would cancel a great program!
Here goes another intelligent, great show! Is there any way to pay extra for shows we really want? I’d pay for both Harry’s Law and Finder, two set to be cancelled. What a loss and believe me I won’t be watching any “reality” show you may put in their places. Are we getting dumb and dumber as an audience and a nation?
Harry’s Law touches on the issues we face today. The writing is excellent and I am drawn to the series. It explores the issues on a legal and emotional stage. It pushes me to further investigate how the law would apply in many situations I see on a daily basis. I am a healthcare worker. I find today’s youth lives very much on the surface and seem to be afraid to delve deeper into what affects them today. This is what TV caters to. PITY….I often wish I could open skulls and pour information in….but I am afraid even drastic… Read more »
I must admit I liked the shoe store concept in the bad neighborhood and was a little surprised to see the big change. However Harry’s law is still a great show and I am upset that NBC cancelled them. Miss Bates is a wonderful actress and I would love another season on Harry’s law.
How could you drop “Harry’s Law”???? It’s one of the best shows on TV!!
It was a very good show. But I gave up on it during season 2 because of the changes.
If the network would keep shows on the new timeslot long enough for people to find it it might get better ratings. I love the new timeslot as when it was on on Thur. I had another show that I watched and I don’t have a DVR to save it for me to watch at a convenient time for my schedule. I couldn’t even watch it on “on Demand”, wasn’t one of the choices. Sorry to see it go, Kathy Bates did a good job.
Harry’s Law is one of the best shows on T.V. I know there is nothing to be done about it but come on. Every year they seem to cancel the best shows. I shouldnt even waste my typing fingers they wont do anything about it. Looking at the bright side pretty soon I wont be watching a single show on this network. Then I’ll have nothing to complain about.
