In January, Syfy renewed Haven for a fifth season of 26 episodes — twice as many installments as the usual season. The first 13 will air this fall while the second back will air sometime next year.
While the renewal was good news for fans, some wonder if this may signal the end for the series. As part of a recent TVLine post, star Eric Balfour was asked his opinion.
Question: Is Season 5 going to be Haven’s last? —Geoffrey
Ausiello: “It very well could be,” Eric Balfour ventured when we saw him at the Saturn Awards. “Nobody at the network’s said that, but we are viewing it that way.” To the point that at least one of the producers “promised that he’s shooting two endings,” one of which will afford proper closure. As Balfour explains, “The writers are of the opinion that you don’t get the opportunity to see the finish line very often on a television series, so knowing that we have the ability to sort of plan for that – and we have [the length of] two seasons to do it, it’s not like it’s tomorrow — I actually am of the opinion that I hope we do it, because I would love to give the fans a real ending and honor the show that way.”
What do you think? Do you think that season five will be long enough for this series? Do you think you’ll want to see a sixth season?
You need to promote the show as they do the other major shows I.e. The blacklist and Scandal
I don’t see as much promotion for this station as there should be , how would the viewing audience know that this show is available ?
EXACTLY Grace……Great Point!!
Yes……I too enjoyed Eureka very much!
SyFy generally kills all their series off after 5 season cause after 5 season it costs more to produce
This is one of my favorite series of all time. The writing is superb. Good sci-fi is hard to come by. I grew up with lost in space and Star Trek. Looking forward to a tv show that rivals childhood memories is near impossible these days. Haven does it for me. The writers must know how good it is. The characters and story line keeps me wanting more. PLEASE keep it going. It rivals walking dead. It deserves more than five seasons!
I hope it isn’t cancelled it’s one of the best shows on tv
This is a series that SHOULD continue. I hope that someone like Netflix or Amazon Prime picks it up and continues it to a proper, not rushed, conclusion. These networks getting us deeply invested in the stories and characters only to pull the plug a few seasons later, is why I think the above mentioned online streaming companies are going to continue to grow and eventually (hopefully) dominate. I believe I read Yahoo is now getting into the game too an just saved some show from a premature death. NBC’s “Community” I think it is. Congrats to them, their viewers… Read more »
Sorry being human ended hoping for more of Haven I also miss eureka very much stop giving us shows we love only to take them away….. Our TV shows are our escapes from Life (Life) if you will.
I certainly hope they continue for 2 more season’s. I love this show, and of course I love Stephen King (BIG FAN HERE!!). The Dome is a little strange, I think I will read the book to find out exactly what is going on. Thank you…
I loved Sanctuary and I loved Warehouse and they canceled both of those. Now they are thinking of canceling Haven??? Come on guys. Give us a break here!!! Don’t cancel Haven too!!!! I love this show.
Given that SyFy seems to end all its viable scripted series (COUGHWarehouse 13COUGH) in favor of more crap reality shows…probably. But at least it’s had a good run.
I thought last season was the last. Glad to hear it’s back!
Have seen and liked an now haven come syfy give back to your viewers that love the shows u have aired would like to see them come back!
I agree there have been a lot of shows that I have watched on syfy that were good and very interesting to watch like nightbstalker and the other vampire show they had as well as about some devil I have a list of the shows that I have watched and like but they stopped them now they do a lot of repeats on movies that I gave seen good knows how many times so syfy stop with repeating movies and leave the good shows alone.
I know of what you speak. But sometimes on Syfy I end up turning
off the series before the series actually ends. One example was sanctuary, another was helix. What really disappointed me was Eureka, warehouse 13, even perhaps haven, they should still be on. All things run their course unfortunately some executive producers decide when the course will end, opposed to when the vieworship says it should end.
Why not, SyFy has a history of killing great series after only 4 or 5 seasons. Remember Eureka, Sanctuary which only ran 2 or 3 yrs, Warehouse 13, etc. See a pattern with them? They get viewers hooked into a show and make millions on it than kill it because they want more $ than they get from it. Guarantee Haven is being killed after this season, SyFy does not care about the viewers, only $$.
