Sky Atlantic has opted not to bring Hit & Miss back for a second season. The TV show has been running on DirecTV here in the US. According to Sky Atlantic’s official statement, they only planned for the UK TV series to run for just one season anyway.
It reads, “Hit & Miss was commissioned as a self-contained drama. The series was the first UK drama commissioned for Sky Atlantic and the response from our customers and the press has been overwhelmingly positive. Following the success of this series, Sky Atlantic continues to be committed to investment in original British scripted productions with upcoming drama Falcon, and other productions which will be announced soon.”
Hit & Miss follows Mia (Chloë Sevingy), a contract killer with a secret: she’s a pre-op transsexual. Mia’s life is sent into a tailspin when she receives a letter from an ex-girlfriend who’s dying from cancer. The letter reveals that Mia fathered a son eleven years ago. Faced with a difficult decision, Mia becomes the guardian to a new family, a choice that forces her to mix her killer instincts with her newly acquired maternal ones. Hit & Miss is the story of a lethal killer at the heart of a troubled family and how all of their lives are dramatically changed.
Others featured in the show include Peter Wight, Jonas Armstrong, Vincent Regan, Ben Crompton, Karla Crome, Reece Noi, Jorden Bennie and Roma Christensen.
The six episodes began running on DirecTV on July 11th and finished on August 15th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear there won’t be a second season of Hit & Miss? What would you liked to have seen happen?
This is an unusual series and the ending left the viewers up in the air. It is positioned for a second series and we care enough about the characters to watch what happens to them Yes please…. a second and third series to tie up all loose ends.
I am from Austria. Finished watching the series on DVD last night. Can’t believe that there ix no sequel to the show. The final episode ends so abruptly, I could cry.
Great script, nice actors, low budget, high ratings everywhere, … this just does not make sense. There must be something we don’t know.
Awesome tv show… Great actors and a story like u have never heard before ! What a shame not having a season 2 ! Chloe is perfect in her role and the atmosphere very special… an ovni kind of project 😉
Sky Atlantic either could not afford the lead for the second season or the writers have sawdust for brains.Hit or Miss was certainly a hit.Watching on Netflix in the US,this series needs an ending fitting the excellence of the series. I can’t believe that Netflix would dump a series on the subscribers knowing that Sky Atlantic dropped the ball with such a ludicrous ending. Both of these corporations I hope are embarrassed by there money grubbing and greed. The public needs to punish by a boycott of their product for a period of time until the message is delivered………….no more shoddy endings.
I went out and bought the series as I loved it so much I was so disappointed to find out there wasn’t a second
If the show was originally intended to only run for one season, why was the final episode left up in the air? The story was definitely unfinished.
It’s doubtful I would ever begin to watch another show by Sky Atlantic.
Just saw the first season. Absolutely awesome! What a shame it ended. Chloe is always great to watch.
I am so disappointed that they only made one season of Hit and Miss. I thought it was written and directed amazingly and I’m sorry they decided not to do a second season.
I am from the K and this series originally aired here in 2012. The writer was Paul Abbott, he has written quite a few series for our tv, to name a couple of them, SHAMELESS, TOUCHING EVIL,CLOCKING OFF I have seen virtually all he’s written and in my opinion he’s not written a bad one yet. The series HIT & MISS if I remember rightly was left open at the end ready for another one. Personally like everyone on here I can’t understand why it’s not been renewed, but if they ever do renew it I hope they show series… Read more »
I’m not replying I just want to say, don’t know what happened with my post but I’m from the UK not K
Great show! How can there NOT be a 2nd season? HELLO Sky Atlantic (wrong) decision Makers…
Great Series, I watch all of it and never fast forward any parts. Hope to see a continuation of the series some day.
Just binge-watched this entire series on Netflix. I want to see what happens next to every character but it wasn’t renewed. So frustrating!! What genius cancelled this gem?
This was a superb show. If ever there was a chance to show the transgender issue to the public, this was it. I liked the show for many reasons but mostly because of the seriousness of the interactions of the plot and quality of the acting. Someone needs to step up and find out why this show was cancelled. Shame on the person who failed to pick up on how this show was leading edge for a variety of reasons.
That’s just nuts, this was a great series and there were far too many things left open-ended to have been intentional to end after 6 episodes – those were cliff-hangers, not wrap-ups even in the most existential of flix! This was a great show, but if someone doesn’t get on the stick to keep it going the kids will be too old to pull it off…Shame.
That really sucks!!! Why the heck would you bother creating such deep characters and way original script-writing just to tease viewers for 6 measly episodes???!!! I just discovered the series only 2 weeks ago. We miss it terribly since the awful night we discovered there was no more of it to see. Major, major screw-up to discontinue Hit & Miss. I don’t think the producers realized what they had on their hands. What a cast! What a theme!
I just finished binge watching on Netflix. I miss the characters already. I realize it’s probably too late to bring back, but this show proves there are creative minds out there that can surely come up with something!
