Well, there’s one dangerous situation that Christopher Chance can’t escape. FOX has cancelled Human Target after two seasons on the air. No season three.
Human Target follows a private bodyguard and security expert (Mark Valley) who protects his clients by integrating himself into their lives and becaomes a “human target.” He’s aided by his business partner, Winston (Chi McBride), and a tech genius named Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley). In the second season, a former client (Indira Varma) becomes his benefactor and an expert thief (Janet Montgomery) joins the team to seek redemption.
The series debuted back in January 2010 to a positive 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.12 million total viewers. Subsequent episodes had some solid numbers (thanks in large part to American Idol) but the latter part of the season really declined. The season finale brought in a mere 1.9 rating and season one averaged a 2.9 rating and 9.6 million viewers.
The show was on the bubble for renewal last May but FOX ultimately decided to give the series a second chance to get better ratings. That didn’t pan out.

Last November, season two of Human Target debuted to a week 1.8 rating in the demo and 6.59 million viewers. The network kept it on through the holidays, the ratings got worse, and by January it seemed like they’d given up on the series. The final episodes of the season performed a bit better but, again, thanks to being teamed American Idol. Season two averaged a 1.7 demo rating and 6.4 million viewers.
As one of the network’s lowest scripted series of the season, it seemed like just a matter of time before FOX would cancel Human Target. Last night, they officially did. Despite some devout fans, Human Target just wasn’t a winner in the ratings. After 25 episodes, the show is over.
What do you think? Should Human Target have been renewed for season three? Why didn’t more people watch the TV series?

hope another Network picks it up 🙁
Human Target was one of the best on TV. Why does Fox cut every good show??
I was a devot follower of “24” and this show was right up there with it. Big mistake to take this away.
I loved Human Target, the cast were great, they had great chemistry, I can’t believe Fox cancelled this show, well that does it for me, there is nothing else on Fox that I would watch. To bad CBS don’t pick it up, I know they would make it work.
Why do the shows with good story lines and good casts and characters get cancelled while each new season brings about a new crop of reality TV crap. These reality shows are about greedy, selfish, back stabbing morons, but somehow they get the needed ratings. What does that say about the viewing audiences.
I am so disappointed that this show was cancelled. We have really enjoyed it and made sure we were home to see it. The chemistry between the cast members was fabulous. What a shame!
That’s the second great show with Valley that FOX has killed. Remember Keen Eddie? Thought Target was a fresh break from the other garbage filling FOX’s airwaves. Excellently cast. Valley, McBride and Harley had great chemistry. The new additions of Varma and Montgomery added strong female characters and rounded out the show well. FOX can keep beating House and Bones into the ground but they cancel a cool show like Human Target? Way to go, geniuses.
An excellent show! My wife and I love it! Every episode was an adventure!! I keep watching season one from netflix over and over again. Looking forward to season two on DVD. There needs to be new management at Fox. Guess I’ll never get to watch season three 🙁
It was a very good show and we loved watching it. The problem it didn’t do well, is you kept moving it and saying it was going to start and than you postponed it from November to January. I don’t think you gave it a chance!!! The crowd 50-60 loved it!
It’s a shame. It was a really good show. By my count that’s two AWESOME Mark Valley shows that got axed too early. Typical of Fox, they launch some of the best shows on TV, but are too quick to pull the trigger. At least Nathan Fillion had the presence of mind to get over to different network, Hopefully Valley will do the same.
yea..that sucks..totally agree with you Paul…. they were all excellent shows…and because of these stupid ratings they have to cancel them
I don’t see why Human Target got cancelled as it’s had more viewers than even Smallville! Fox, you just keep killing shows after a few episodes by preempting them, running them during the holidays, or moving them around, especially to the show graveyard Friday night.
Fox you are such Idiots. Human Target, Lie To Me and Chicago Code are three of the best shows on TV and you fools cancel them. I was just beginning to watch more of your programing but that ends as of today.
Totally agree with you Paul. These 3 shows are great. I can’t figure out how any of these stations make decisions.
FOX made another big mistake! They should reconsider their decision and leave Human Target on TV.
I agree whole-heartedly with ALL previous comments. FOX MADE ALL of the problems with viewing the show in the second season themselves! They false-started the Season Two opener not once – but TWICE, changed the day, changed the time, shuffled it more than a deck of cards, and tried to make us Fans pick out the King from the middle of their shuffled deck blind almost each week! If you didn’t keep on top of the web to find the latest date and time for the show it was like a virtual Shell Game! ENOUGH REALITY SHOWS!!! The ONLY one… Read more »
