USA Network’s In Plain Sight TV show recently had its episode order cut from 16 to 13 installments. Is this a sign that the series is headed for the TV graveyard after three seasons?
Not necessarily. It turns out that In Plain Sight will wrap season three early for another reason. The Futon Critic was told by Universal Cable Productions, “John McNamara, executive producer and showrunner of USA Network’s In Plain Sight, took a leave of absence for medical reasons… John Romano assumed executive producer responsibilities for the remaining episodes. Given the unexpected change, we decided to end the season at a natural spot — with the surprising cliffhanger of episode 13.”
Season three will finish airing on Wednesday, June 30th. In Plain Sight hasn’t been renewed for a fourth season yet and isn’t necessarily looking like a lock either.
Last season reportedly averaged 4.08 million viewers but recent episodes have been attracting less than three million viewers. That’s certainly not a good indicator for renewal.
What do you think? Should In Plain Sight be renewed for season four or cancelled?

Do Not Cancel!!!!!!!! The Chemistry is wonderful…and where has Mary’s Mother been most of the all-to-short season? A “normal” season of 16 episodes is ridiculous…13 is unacceptable — just a ‘tease.’ But something is better than nothing.
Two words… Marshall Mann.
He’s a force and I love the way he feeds off of Mary’s interaction. Just have the entire show follow them around all day and it’d be awesome.
I love this show, it is a great addition to the USA lineup. I agree that there are too many loose ends that need to be tied up before it can be canceled. I am tired of re-runs of NCIS and L&O SVU when we can have new episodes of IPS.
Oh please renewwwww I love this show!!! The only one I watch!!! Please Please Please
I, too, am glad to see less of Mary’s family and boyfriend (He was great to look at but all wrong for Mary, in my opinion) in this season and am intrigued by the addition of Steven Weber occasionally. The rest of the office cast is pretty forgettable most of the time. Need some kind of friction or SOMETHING for it. I DID like the episode where the witness and Mary became friends and the friend died before testifying. Showed a human side, but it wouldn’t be Mary if she showed too much sentimentality. To me, the possible story lines… Read more »
Excellent writing and acting has created two great characters I enjoy following (Mary & Marshall). Unfortunately, many of the witness stories this season have been dull and forgettable. However, I was glad to see less of Mary’s family and boyfriend. The new office characters haven’t added any interest, the way Maples did, except maybe Janney, who disappeared. Liked Weber arc. I like and will continue to watch the program, but it does seem to need a new angle or character.
Oh jeez, let’s hope USA is not going to take on the habits of the NBC mother ship.
This show is tremendous and Mary and Marshall need to be back for many more seasons.
I appreciate the reason for cutting the season this time…but 3 million viewers in the splintered world of TV today is a very good number.
Don’t pull it from plain sight!!
Please, please, please, pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase bring it back
The show is enjoyable and hits on many issues facing today’s ethical battles without and within. While some of the character interplay has diminished, it still has enough verve to keep me involved.
In Plain Sight is the best, DON’T CANCEL IT!
My wife and I watch just a handful of shows: Chuck, Burn Notice, Leverage, White Collar and In Plain Sight.
Keep it.
the show was great with christian de la fuentes. he was great with Mary. Made her more likeable. leslie ann warren was comic relief and loved her at the mother. I love the show, but with all the changes it has become to serious and boring.
Don’t change things when they work
This is one of my favorite shows. If it’s not doing well, they should move it to a different time slot. I love Mary and Marshall!
Renew IPS. Can’t leave viewers wondering about Mary’s father.
Best show on TV right now, hands down. Please don’t cancel it!
