Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
I can’t believe they axed intelligence either, but look what they did with unforgettable…
It’s not the best of the shows, but it’s definitely worth keeping.
Until their was an outrage over unforgettable, it never would’ve come back.
In time they would’ve found their footing, along with improvement..as with all shows in the first season.
Best tv show i’ve ever watched, better then ncis better then bones better then csi better then everything, yet it gets cancelled… Why cbs?!
I’m brazilian and I’ve just watched Intelligence ep02 at AXN. I’m just loving the show and it’s storyline. I really don’t believe this show is not running for Season 2. I think it’s even better than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, and ABC is ready for season 2. I’m expecting CBS read this kind of sites and understands that it is maybe on wrong timeslot, but is pretty good to watch. Hope to watch season 2, 3 and other more to come!
I watch most of my shows on DVR, as I hate sitting through commercials. With all of the different shows that I watch, I’m just catching up with Intelligence. I thought Intelligence was a great show, especially with its stellar cast! Too bad CBS has cancelled this show. CBS, as I recall, does not have much patience to let high-budget shows last. CBS cancelled The Flash show back in the 1990’s, just when I thought that show was finding its footing. For The Flash, CBS also moved around this show around to make viewers purposely miss the show. Just think… Read more »
Sometimes it takes a little longer than 13 episodes to find and audience and the networks have a terrible habit of moving shows around. Especially if they are holding their own in the time slot they premier. Instead of moving the show maybe they should just put it into the time slot that they actually want it in. Pretty much given up on the networks cause they do this all the time. It had good writing, great acting, and I just loved the concept. Not everything is an instant success. The networks want to know why they get such low… Read more »
I agree. One of the previous posters hit the nail on the head – don’t start watching any of the new shows until the second season. Then if you like it, go back and watch the first season.
These people wonder why a show doesn’t make it but nobody wants to get interested in a show because all they do is cancel most anyways. Makes me not want to watch any of them.
I really like this show, but it seems your program manager didn’t. CBS placed Intelligence, a new show, on probably the most watched television night of the week, against some of the most popularly watched shows on cable and television networks (do I have to name them), and expected the show to do well???? Sounds like your program manager was purposely trying to kill it.
I agree – good point !!!
Australia’s TV programmers are no better than the USA. Moving really good shows to late time slots whilst subjecting their viewers to ‘reality’ shows. I really enjoyed Intelligence. It deserved a second series.
Every time you start to really enjoy a TV show it gets cancelled, if they kept it ont he same night and the same time maybe CBS wiuld have got the ratings hey wanted/needed. I LOVED THIS SHOW.
Couldn’t agree more. Keep it going my son and I love I.
So dissappointed it has been cancelled! It was getting better and better!
For shame …. American networks have a habit of cancelling great programmes but continue to produce ****** reality shows that pander to the lowest of lows, celebrity worshippers.
Keeping the Kardassians in cash & the Housewives employed in bitching dialog seems to be a priority, but obviously not keeping quality entertainment on our screens. Sorry Josh Holloway, you got punked!
My answer to the above question is Yes, I loved the show..and the second season should not be stopped..Josh Holloway has done a fab job as an Agent and her partner Meghan Ory also has done the best job..Please Please start the second season..
One of the best shows ever and CBS cancels it. Another reason never to watch the dying networks .
In my opinion, you’re making a mistake in cancelling Intelligence. I don’t think it has the premise to be a long running series, but it would have done good for a season or two more.
As far as I’m concerned, this is just one more reason to stop watching CBS.
Come on CBS, I actually like this show. Plus Riley is hot!! Bring this back and get rid of the reality shows, they are the stupid ones!!!
This show actually has a good plot line. Plus it brings in our decorated service people into the spotlight, which they deserve after this country is going to hell and a hand basket.
Keep it on !!! Get rid of Survivor!! That show is a waste of film!!!!
Amen to that !!!
Agree. Intelligence has relevance.
