Josh Holloway enjoyed a long run on Lost but unfortunately he hasn’t been as lucky with Intelligence. The CBS TV show has now been cancelled after one season of 13 episodes.
On Intelligence, Gabriel Vaughn (Holloway) is a high-tech intelligence operative who’s been enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. It allows him to be connected directly into the global information grid. Other castmembers include Marg Helgenberger, Meghan Ory, Michael Rady, John Billingsley, P. J. Byrne, Tomas Arana, Lance Reddick, and Peter Coyote.
After the failure of Hostages, the network was hoping for Intelligence to be a ratings hit to fill their Mondays at 10pm timeslot. It wasn’t to be. Despite some impressive star talent and special effects, the show couldn’t draw enough viewers.
The network debuted it after NCIS on a Tuesday night and the show drew decent numbers but, once it moved to its regular Monday night slot, the ratings tanked. The season of 13 episodes averaged a 1.3 demo rating with 6.85 million viewer, making it one of the lowest-rated shows on the network.
That wasn’t good enough to mandate a second season renewal so Intelligence has been cancelled. The final episode aired on March 31st.
What do you think? Did you like this Josh Holloway series? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?
Loved it – BUT it was opposite Castle so I watched Intelligence On Demand. Not happy it wasn’t renewed. Maybe try another time-slot or night instead of canceling.
This show is terrific. what’s the matter with CBS is it to real for them. Cheers didn’t do good at the beginning, but look how long is lasted. Come on CBS wise up.
You see, this is why it does no good to watch season #1 of any show on television. You get all wrapped up in it and the idiot network pulls the rug out from under you. I really liked “Intelligence” but it is gone and so am I. I’ll watch internet programming and leave CBS to its own devices.
Really disappointed – came actoss this on aUK satellite channel and thought it was great. Theres plenty of rubbish. ‘Spin out tbe franchise’ series that have little or no merit other than the success of the original. Looks like cheap TV ( reality) or Franchises are the only way to get a series aired now. A little Intelligence in scheduling might help too – pun fully intended as I’m a bit of a smartypants in my spare time!! 🙂
The Show is Great!!
Its a must for a second season, you be mad not to!!
I too was greatly disappointed when I read they had canceled the show. This show was different and it was very refreshing for once to see something else than stupid reality TV, where different people do the same thing over and over every year! As someone mentioned already, have we lost so much of our own human INTELLIGENCE that we can’t accept anything new? Bring the show back for goodness’s sake!!!
So sad the show was canceled -loved it, just the right amount of everything.
enjojd it had potenchale yes renuit
My wife and I really enjoyed this show. It was clean entertainment with a good plot. Any chance of changing your minds? We looked forward to watching every week. P.S. how do these polls work anyway and how accurate are they. Nobody contacted us to see if we were watching.
This was a great show. With so many stupid shows on the air (The Millers, for example), they end up cancelling a good one. I even watched this show on demand even after I watched the regularly scheduled show. Too bad. CBS is not thinking on this one!
I think the show shouldn’t been canceled. This is why I really don’t watch this network like that. The network always canceling shows before they even get a chance. If it was up to me and I own the company some people would get fired. You suppose to give the show a chance to watch it.
Wow! I loved this show. I think the actors were great. Something different not like all the other show’s. Too many NCIS, Law and Order and CSI’s. Monopoly on TV. Need less reality TV as well. Such a shame. Why not put Intelligence on another network!
TOTALLY TICKED OFF!!!!! I don’t like that they cancel GREAT shows like this and keep ridiculous stupid shows with no rim or reason to them.. I think the American public is really showing how much we have digressed in INTELLEGENCE!!!!! GOOD GRIEF!!!!
I loved the show and thought Josh Holloway did an amazing job. The show always kept me on my toes. They picked a night to air this when there were 3 prime time TV shows on at the same time, so I blame the Network for the low numbers.
Loved this show!!! They always cancel the good shows. I’m so disappointed
