Can anyone save Kevin? ABC has ordered three additional episodes of its new Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV show, bringing the season one episode order to a total of 16. Whether that means the low-rated freshman dramedy is cancelled or renewed for a second season is a bit more complex. It has been languishing in ABC’s problematic 10:00pm Tuesday timeslot and has failed to draw the sort of Nielsen numbers typical of a successful, new TV series.
From creators Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World stars Jason Ritter as the self-involved Kevin Finn, who learns he is the last of his generation’s 36 righteous souls meant to power it with the hope that can save the world from destruction. The ABC cast also includes: JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Chloe East, J. August Richards, Dustin Ybarra, and India de Beaufort.
Kevin (Probably) Saves the World: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World is averaging a 0.76 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.26 million viewers. When sorted by its demo ratings, it ranks 14th out of ABC’s scripted TV shows, and is 13th, in terms of average total audience size.
While hearing a network has ordered additional episodes may not seem like bad news on the cancellation and renewal front, it is somewhere between probable and likely that there will be no season two of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. A small back order like this is often more about the network filling a timeslot than an indication that they will order a second season.
Although ABC has posted the episode order news to its press site, Deadline has confirmed the order.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for season two on ABC?
This is one of the best shows on TV and it delivers great lessons every week. I would hate to think this show would get cancelled…it’s GOOD. And TV needs Kevin.
Please keep it! I have to watch it when I get home!
it sends messages.
I love it! I don’t always watch it when it’s aired if they affects the ratings though. I watch it DVR according to my schedule of being able to watch TV around other life events.
Please keep it!
Likewise, I am only able to watch it through Xfinity On-Demand. It needs to be renewed!
This is my favorite new show of the season. I love that the show is NOT religious but is about the value in being a good person and helping your fellow man. It’s very funny and the cast is wonderful — especially Ritter. I’ll be very disappointed if this show doesn’t find a big enough audience to warrant a second season. And it is a shame there are not more shows like this on the air.
Wouldn’t have normally watched this show but I like Jason Ritter, was a huge fan of his dad. That tells you I’m out of the desired age demo, but my family of that age group DONT watch it, and they don’t have $ for buying sponsored products, they stream on tablets etc. My generation has the $, and doesn’t mind spending it, on all kinds of products. This show is funny, sweet, and positive, unlike most network TV into reality tv, and shows that promote disrespect, sex, profanity, and the like. I say MORE Kevin. Uplifting show.
Amen. Pppllleeasssse keep it on. 2 shows rock,#1 Kevin saves the world and #2 the good place. Well “mom” sends good messages while staying politically correct but the ritters have been my favorites since I was a child madly “in love” with tex. Anyone else remember him?
Absolutely. Clapping with enthusiasm here. (For the latter half. LOL. It sounds like I’m not in your age demographic. 🙂 )
The program is very refreshing and funny. There is a lesson to be learned with each episode. With so many people being so self-absorbed this is thinking out of the box. I vote for continuing this program.
This show is refreshingly different, funny and makes one think about materialistic matters. So many self absorbed people in the world. It’s got my vote !!! Please keep it on!! Alot of people record shows. Does Nielsen consider that?
We love this show! It would be a shame to cancel it. I enjoy the lightheartedness of it. It’s funny, non-political, non-religious, and just a fun show. The cast is great. I above the targeted age group, but the networks are aiming for people who don’t watch TV. My millennial daughter only streams on NetFlix. She is a poor, starving college student and can’t afford cable! My millennial son does not watch TV, stream, or anything. Please save this show. We need more like it on TV.
This show is cute, hilariously funny at times, poignant at others, I love it . It is a refreshing change from a lot of the garbage available on network tv these days. I truly hope this show is saved, and we get, at least, one more season.
I love this show! It’s refreshing. Jason Ritter is fantastic as are the rest of the cast – but he really steals the show. It’s uplifting and makes me smile all the way through the show. Please don’t cancel it.
Love this show, it’s not about religion and makes no mention of it, it’s about bringing good to the world, helping and being kind to others, just a beautiful heartwarming message. It has an excellent cast and very likable characters.
OMG, this is one the best new shows on TV and it is so uplifting, creative and original – please do not cancel this show!!!!
Never watched it, but plz Cancel it Thank you!
Please don’t ask for cancellation until you have at least watched an episode. If you are thinking it a religious show it’s not it’s a human show on how we are and how we treat others. Please think about watching just one. Thanks
Just curious. Why would you care that a show you don’t watch gets cancelled or not?
If you haven’t watched the show, then don’t prejudge it. It is hilarious and better than most comedies. Thank you.
The networks/advertisers demographics are totally wrong. Millennials are NOT their target age (and they are NOT watching)! Until they accept that fact good shows are doomed. I’m at the tail end of baby boomers and my millennial kids are not watching tv and have very little dispensable income. I on the other hand do watch tv (cable, stream and online) and I have money to buy what advertisers are selling. But I’m not desirable…. stupid reasoning networks!
Spot on! We are 48 yr old viewers. We DVR the series and watch it when we have time. Our kids enjoy it with us, but most everything else is on their computer.
I think I’m technically a millenial… I watch it on Hulu.
I like it….especially like Jason Ritter and want to see more of him!
Please RENEW!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!
