Can anyone save Kevin? ABC has ordered three additional episodes of its new Kevin (Probably) Saves the World TV show, bringing the season one episode order to a total of 16. Whether that means the low-rated freshman dramedy is cancelled or renewed for a second season is a bit more complex. It has been languishing in ABC’s problematic 10:00pm Tuesday timeslot and has failed to draw the sort of Nielsen numbers typical of a successful, new TV series.
From creators Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World stars Jason Ritter as the self-involved Kevin Finn, who learns he is the last of his generation’s 36 righteous souls meant to power it with the hope that can save the world from destruction. The ABC cast also includes: JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Chloe East, J. August Richards, Dustin Ybarra, and India de Beaufort.
Kevin (Probably) Saves the World: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World is averaging a 0.76 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.26 million viewers. When sorted by its demo ratings, it ranks 14th out of ABC’s scripted TV shows, and is 13th, in terms of average total audience size.
While hearing a network has ordered additional episodes may not seem like bad news on the cancellation and renewal front, it is somewhere between probable and likely that there will be no season two of Kevin (Probably) Saves the World. A small back order like this is often more about the network filling a timeslot than an indication that they will order a second season.
Although ABC has posted the episode order news to its press site, Deadline has confirmed the order.

Im a millenial and i personally love this show. Its funny, heartfelt and meaningful. I watch it on hulu because we dont get alot of cable (and its comercial free on there) i love it and i just know that its going to get better and better. Especially when they bring in the other rightous and start investigating what happened to the old rightous. I think then the show might become a bit more like The Messengers which was a CW show about people anointed by God to stop the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. That show was more serious… Read more »

I watch very little TV but this show caught my attention and now I can’t imagine not being able to watch. The actors are genuine and the theme of the show is to encourage people to be kind and caring of others. I have to record it in order to watch because I have to get up at 4:00 a.m. every morning, but would miss it for the world. PLEASE don’t cancel this show … it’s a favorite!!
I wasn’t sure I would like this show, but I absolutely love it! It has become one of my favorite shows and I would be extremely disappointed if it were canceled. There are so few shows that you really look forward to!
This is a show that really goes against the grain of most prime time shows that are too full of negative drama. It’s very refreshing to see such an honest approach to serious and scary situations that can affect anyone at any given time. I can speak personally to the importance of the issue this show brings attention to. It’s so comforting to watch something I personally relate to and this new show makes me smile within myself and laugh out loud. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE allow this show to continue. I love that my whole family can sit and watch and enjoy this show. It is so hard to find good entertainment now and I love that my kids are always asking if there is a new “Kevin.” I hope this one lasts for a long time!
I have enjoyed the fine acting of all the cast. The plot reminds me of Touched by an Angel. I hope this show gets renewed.
Why do the networks keep bringing us great shows, then cancelling them only to replace them with mindless matter? This show even has a great story line. I think we all need Kevin in our lives.
I love this show, and every new one makes me want more! It has s warming but humorous vibe which is better which is a nice change!
Please keep this show. I think it is building a strong audience. There is no uplifting positive show to compete with, that gives people hope to know life will get better. We are in a very shaky world and this show makes us have at least one hour of the week feeling life will get better and shows there are still good people in this world. It is worth the wait. Good things come to those who wait.

This show has held my interest, unlike shows like Fresh off the Boat. This is different, but I don’t have much faith in ABC after they cancelled excellent shows like Forever and The Catch. I don’t want this one cancelled either. When ABC, are you going to give GOOD shows that you put in bad time slots a chance?!
