Last Resort has been sunk. ABC has cancelled the newbie drama. The network plans to air all 13 episodes but won’t order a back nine or a second season. ABC also cancelled 666 Park Avenue today and CBS dropped Partners as well.
The TV series takes place in the submarine Colorado when its officers are mysteriously ordered to destroy Pakistan. Sensing that something isn’t right, they require confirmation and are subsequently fired upon and hunted.
The cast of Last Resort includes Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Daisy Betts, Robert Patrick, Daniel Lissing, Dichen Lachman, Camille de Pazzis, Sahr Ngaujah, Jessy Schrams, and Autumn Reeser.
Though it received a lot of promotion, Last Resort debuted to mediocre ratings; a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.31 million viewers.
The numbers declined over the course of the season and last night hit a new low with a 1.2 rating and 5.68 million viewers.
What do you think? Will you miss Last Resort? Given the ratings, should ABC have cancelled it?
Bring it back please
Brilliant show – never have been a big believer in ratings – bring it back for more.
I agree
It is a shame with all the crap reality shows that are forced on us that a show that is well done and scripted with a good plot and storyline can’t get more than 13 episodes. I guess it is just a lot cheaper to carry a reality show. Guess who loses?
Cannot believe I just watched the last episode. This was a great show, had to watch it on demand every week, but it was worth it. My husband and I are sooooo disappointed that it is cancelled.
It was just starting to get established story lines. It was a good show and should not have been cancelled. At least the money hoarders gave the story an ending. Thanks.
Exactly what the previous comment was – it was a great show!
Last Resort was good, not sure why more people were not watching it. It did take a poke at how goverments can be run, secrecy and what might happen if…thought it might have ruffled some feathers in Washington or in the military. This show had a pretty good cast and should have been allowed to have a shot at one more season. At least they gave us an ending and brought a lot of stories to an end. It is really disappointing these days when you get interested in a show and the networks just pull it….and all these stupid… Read more »
How right u r. Sick of reality tv.
Too bad! Really good show with tremendous potential. I get the “ratings” thing, but I’m sad to see it go! Maybe we’ll get lucky and another network will pick it up. Tough to pick up after the “final” episode though… Oh well! Sad!
Thats just great, who makes these decisions? Last Resort was great, its too bad that all you think is worth watching is shows about families of alternative life styles.
Anything that is worth watching you always cancell, WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS.
Maybe someday you will learn your lesson. Like when we cancell you ABC!
Probably to conservative for such a “liberal”network. Maybe FOX will pick it up.
Wow, a great show. i can tell how good it is when the hour goes so quickly. The hour went quicker that any other show. I am almost heart broken.
The show was intended for people with a functioning brain and a mind not filled with crap.
Therefore, it had little chance of success in a world filled with zombies who prefer to watch vampires.
Too bad. One of four shows I watch. Great cast, good writing, good acting. A shame.
Friday Night Lights, Sports Night, and the list goes on . . . . .
Apparently, in the modern era of entertainment, innovative, intelligent, and truly thoughtful shows are now destined to oblivion by the lowest common denominator.
I’ll take some solace in the fact that Mad Men & Newsroom are still hanging in there — for the time being anyway.
I guess the network preferred useless garbage like Cougar Town and all. Bring back The Last Resort!
