Tonight, USA Network aired the series finale of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Many who work on the TV show hope that’s not necessarily true.
Last Summer, it was rumored that the cop drama might be cancelled following a season of lackluster ratings. USA instead opted to bring Criminal Intent back for a 10th and final season of eight episodes. To cap the show’s run, it was also announced that Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D’Onofrio, who left abruptly at the start of season nine, would return.
Though USA has been calling season 10 the end of Criminal Intent, we learned in May that executive producer Dick Wolf wasn’t throwing in the towel just yet. He told reporters that he hoped, “enough fans will come out so the powers that be reconsider their decision.” Later, executive producer Chris Brancato noted that, “Yeah, I think if viewers are enthused about Vincent and Katie coming back I don’t see why it has to be the final season.” The ratings have shown improvement.
Erbe is also hopeful that tonight won’t be the end and would be to season 11. She recently told TV Guide, “I know that I would be there in a heartbeat. I’m fairly positive that Vincent [D’Onofrio] feels the same way. Everyone was really hoping that, in the 11th hour, we’d get some word… Whether the fans are able to muscle us back or not, who knows. They have amazing power.”
Regardless of what happens, Erbe is grateful for the chance to return to the series. She said, “I just know that these eight episodes were like a gift. To be able to come back and have closure with the crew and the cast and everyone… If that happens again, fantastic. It would just be like icing on the cake.”
If the series doesn’t come back, the actress feels that viewers will like this farewell to Goren and Eames better than their departure in 2010. Erbe notes, “I know we set out to make it satisfying… The one thing I know you’re going to see is that Goren and Eames are on much better, more solid ground. Healthier, happier and in good shape.”
If she never gets to play the role again, Erbe imagines that her character would continue solving cases with Goren and just continue to live her life.
What do you think? Would you like to see Law & Order: Criminal Intent continue?

By all means bring Criminal Intent back. One of the best shows on T.V. in
ages. Law and Order (all three versions) are part of the landscape in
American Television. I hope renewal will be strongly considered and
we viewers will have something positive to look forward to. Television
programing overall has become junk. The reality shows have taken over
and contribute to the Dumbing Down of the public. Please keep Law and
Order Criminal Intent alive.

I live in england, anyone I show criminal intent to becomes addicted! I have never been a tv buff, alot of stuff is cheap, boring or repetitive. But I have sat engrosse and watched season 1-5 non stop for the last few years lol every night, probably each episode 40 times! It’s brilliant! When I heard that it was all coming to an end I could have cried and I mean seriously! Goran and Eames apparently leaving is bound to drop ratings!! I’m in love with both of them and how genius the story lines are! I’m only up to… Read more »
I think the season 11 was the best. I really want a season 12 keep it on!!!!
I have never been a great watcher of TV. BUT!!! Criminal Intent has had my full attention and devotion since Day One and I love Erbe and D’Onofrio, their compatabilitty and natural styles. After seeing Vincent on this series, I looked for all of his other acting parts. He’s is so fantastic. (I must admit I was terribly upset when they were briefly replaced by others that one season.)
PLEASE, don’t take them away. This show has so much quality—especially compared to so many of the Stupid ones that remain on the tube.
Please Dick Wolk an USA network, bring these two charaters back together for many more seasons of Criminal Intent. I get so excited when these two great actors Vicent De’forio and Katherice Erbe get together. It’s the only show I watch together with SVU. Sorry that Christoper Meloni has left. The show is not the same, but seeing Vincent and Katherine in action keeps me happy
Law & Order CI is my favorite program. Very few shows give you something. To think about when they are over. The characters are well developed. Goren is amazing!
Please bring Eames and Goren back and provide smart, sassy, intelligent “who dun its” without the scintillating guts and gore that substitutes for well-crafted screen play content by lesser writers.. I am so sick of insulting reality shows and gimmicky game shows- please bring them back and develop their relationship as mutally competent crime solving partners and deepen their personal relationship in a meaningful and respectful way. Allow them to be who they are and demonstrate that difference can be an asset and celebrated, instead of embarrassingly tolerated.
It is my greatest hope to see Law and Order Criminal Intent continue for years to come. Just love this show and the great cast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best of all of the law and order series. People can not wait to see Goren and Eames are going to do next.
yes, yes, yes, please them back! the show is one of my all time favorites! he reminds me of a modern day columbo(compliment here). i miss them already!!!!! listen usa! bring them!!! thanx for listening!
This series is the best of the best. I got to love all the detectives and their partners, but Goren and Eames had the magical pairing that shouldn’t end. Please bring them back!
Don’t let this series fade away. I love Goren and Emes.
yes I hope it will continue. It is one of the better shows on tv.
I would love to see law oe C I come back. I did not like it when you said it was te finale. They are great actors. why fix it i it is not broken . bring it back, bring it back ,bring it back! Goren an Emes are geat characters.
I hope that the series will continue! The last episode of the 10th was left wide open for a return, so no conflict there. Like a lot of other fans, this is my favorite of the LAO franchises. I think the characters are great. The 10th season seemed a little less ‘edgy’, but that can be corrected int he future. LAO rock on!
