Sometimes the truth hurts — especially when it comes to television ratings. After three seasons, FOX has cancelled Lie to Me.
Starring Tim Roth, Lie to Me revolves around Cal Lightman and members of The Lightman Group. They’re a team of specialists who help law enforcement agencies uncover the truth by using applied psychology. Others in the cast include Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Monica Raymund, Hayley McFarland, and Mekhi Phifer.
Last season, Lie to Me averaged a 2.9 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.03 million total viewers. That was down from season one and the series found itself on the bubble for renewal. FOX ended up giving the TV series another chance and renewed it for 13 episodes.
Unfortunately, season three didn’t perform nearly as well as season two. It premiered last October to a 2.1 rating in the demo and 5.86 million. Viewership eroded in subsequent weeks and FOX declined to give the show a full season order. Lie to Me then hit a new series low in January, registering a meager 1.5 rating and 5.43 million viewers.

In its final weeks on the air, viewers seemed to rally behind it and Lie to Me had its best ratings of the season — a 2.5 in the demo and 7.67 million.
Though the ratings had come way down, FOX execs claimed that they still valued the TV series and saw it as a solid utility player. Showrunner Alex Cary said, “Fox has been very clear with us — they know what the show is, they know what it can do. [The ratings bump] shows that people will come watch the show.”
Now, after three seasons on the air, the series is over. FOX has officially cancelled Lie to Me after 48 episodes. All of the installments have aired. Though there are too few episodes for a traditional syndication package, the first two seasons have already been released on DVD.
What do you think? Should Lie to Me have been renewed for season four?

PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!! PLEASE!!!! I loved the show!!!
This show is awesome, I really can’t believe that it was cancelled. I really hope to see new more season of it, as it get me hooked.
Lie to me, is for me the best TV-series ever and i hope to see it back on Fox.
I think the rating is harder than Al Pacino. Rating is God. Cal Lightman (Tim Roth) reminds me of Al Pacino.
no!! It can not be canceled!!! I loved this series..
I love dis move. I love can, his daughter, toris, and Julia.
I loved it can’t believe it’s gone.loved it all especially cal his good and bad side.
what a shame .the show had me hooked from first show to last. very sad that tv has gone from great shows like this to house wife from every state there is or look how much money i have and my wonderful life. To bad for us.
It’s hard to get me to like something on tv. I’m tired of all the mindless drama and slapstick humor. Here comes a program that shows people thinking for a living; and it doesn’t catch on. I like thinking. Watching people think inspires me. I really would enjoy learning neuroscience. It’s hard. It’s worth doing. So is following principles. Is there really no tolerance on television for a guy with a chip on his shoulder who wants to uncover truths? Lie to me should’ve stayed on for many seasons. I’m tired of stupid crap.
I’ve just seen the last episode and I can’t believe it has finished. It’s a great show, one of the best I’ve followed. I’m sad, I want more Lie to me!!!
No i think they should make more. It was sooooo good. It was funny, it was action, and it had its weird funny moments but that’s what made it good. Also you don’t know what to expect, it would surprise you On every episode. Also you can’t delete it because cal finally confess that he loves Foster so please don’t delete it please bring it back. I’ll watch it all the time. Every day.
Yes. However in season 3 al the focus was on Cals bad side. And he and Jillian’s relationship also changed. Every one lost respect for him. Needed to be a bit more stable and not so I am the only one that know. Season 1 and 2 balance between good and bad was much better. But I miss it .
Please, bring back “Lie To Me” , it is one of the best shows on TV/Netflex this year. It was educational, suspenseful, funny, frustrating and endearing. The characters are finally much more developed & you wonder if Cal is going to allow himself to truly trust & love someone again. Also, will his daughter get involved with Cal’s lead male psychologist. Please give the show another chance, don’t the 7 1/2 mil who watched the last wk count You left us in limbo/ If not new season, maybe 2 : 2 hour final season specials. Please consider my request Thank you,… Read more »
