It’s “lights out” for FX’s new boxing drama series. FX has cancelled Lights Out after one season due to poor ratings.
Lights Out revolves around Patrick ‘Lights’ Leary (Holt McCallany), an aging former heavyweight boxing champion. He struggles to find his identity and support his wife and three daughters after retiring from the ring. The poor economy and a series of bad investments leave Patrick at a perilous crossroads; battling the urge to return to boxing or reluctantly accepting a job as a brutal and intimidating debt collector. The show also features Catherine McCormack, Pablo Schreiber, and Stacy Keach.
Though some critics applauded the series, not many people watched the premiere in January. It registered just a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.487 million viewers. The second episode dropped to a 0.4 rating and 0.92 million viewers. The season has averaged a 0.4 in the demo and 0.88 million.
To no surprise, FX isn’t ordering a second season of Lights Out. The cable channel made the announcement today and indicated that the final two episodes will air as previously scheduled; on March 29th and April 5th at 10pm.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lights Out cancelled? Why do you think it didn’t catch on?

Very disappointed I thought the show was very good. Fx needs to rethink this one over
I loved the ahow.
Wow… I’m in shock seriously!!! I get on the Internet to see when season two of Lights Out is gonna start just to find out it was cancelled!!! This was the only time we ever watched FX, we hate the rest of those dumb shows this was a really good show and I’m sad to see it go!!!
Shame that this is canceled…shame… One of the better shows lately and of course, shut down -.-
Finally, a well acted, well written show that appeals to an intelligent audience. It, of course, is cancelled because it cannot generate $$$ with dolls, T shirts etc. This show should have been given more time to capture a larger audience. If MASH or Cheers were aired today they too would have been cancelled by the short-sighted, money grubbing media moguls that are driving the viewing of the poorly written trash on TV today. I’m wondering if anyone can write anymore. Doesn’t seem that way. “Reality” shows are inexpensive, and an insult to any thinking person that might want to… Read more »

I can’t even put it into words how disappointed I am that I will not see a second season of lights !
Sons of Anarchy over, American Horror story just about over, I was looking forward to Lights Out Leary only to find this out, it seems if it isnt reality it isnt welcome on TV anymore 🙁
