REGRET, LOSS AND REDEMPTION ON TLC’S DOCU-SERIES “LONG LOST FAMILY”
The eight-episode docuseries premieres Sunday, March 6, 2016
Los Angeles, CA – LONG LOST FAMILY features the highly emotional and touching stories of people who have suffered a lifetime of separation and are yearning to be reunited with their birthparents and biological families or find children they had to place for adoption long ago. Either because of circumstance or fate, they’ve barely – if ever – met. The TLC series premieres Sunday, March 6 at 10/9c.
Hosts and well-known television personalities Chris Jacobs and Lisa Joyner are both adoptees who have embarked on their own journeys to discover their biological families. Each episode follows the hosts as they investigate the stories of two individuals or families who have longed to resolve their lifelong searches. The stakes are incredibly high: a successful investigation offers the promise of not just a heartwarming reunion, but also a chance of redemption for people who have wrestled with emotional agony for years.
There is no simple path to find the missing loved ones. With tightly held family secrets in their way, the odds are stacked against them. Lisa and Chris conduct painstaking searches through public records, and utilize the latest DNA technology in their search for answers. But what they discover, and who they find, is anything but expected.
Some incredible stories include:
Rita
A mother who was forced to place her baby boy for adoption 31 years ago. Rita’s boyfriend dumped her when she told him she was pregnant and her mother sent her to a home for pregnant young women for fear of a scandal. Still holding on to his baby blanket from the hospital, she longs to meet her son again and keep the promise she made to find him.
Jenny
Her birth mother was the daughter of a minister who was deeply embarrassed by a pregnancy out of wedlock. Because of the lack of support offered, she ended up placing Jenny with social services. The search for Jenny’s birth mother takes a dramatic turn, when photo evidence suggests they may have been unknowingly connected for years.
Diana and Jeannette
Two women in search for the father who suddenly vanished from their lives when they were just 4 and 5 years old. With no memories of their separation from him, the women have grown up haunted by his sudden disappearance. They hope he can be found so they can see him once again to find out the truth and ask him what happened.
Ancestry, the largest provider of family history and personal DNA testing, is teaming up with TLC as a sponsor of the upcoming season. As part of the show sponsorship, Ancestry provides family history research on each of the featured individuals to help make discoveries possible.
Long Lost Family is produced by Shed Media for TLC.

What do you think? Do you like the sound of the Long Lost Family TV show? Do you plan to check out the series premiere on TLC?
I stumbled on this show and could not leave it. It is fascinating and encouraging to see folks find their hopes fulfilled. I am an older adoptee so no longer have hopes of finding parents however my daughter is very family oriented and would be overjoyed to find her true heritage. I have tried to find connections for her but without much luck. Time is running out
for me but it would mean so much for her to have even medical knowledge for her own
peace of mind.

My husband was adopted almost 50 years ago and would like to find his biological mother.
How old is he? I have a brother who was given up for adoption at birth. He would be 1 year younger than me. Born in the year 1958.
My parents adopted me in Germany, my father was military stationed there and married my mother who was German. That made it possible for them to adopt in Germany, which was easier than here in the States. I have my original birth certificate, with my birth name and birth mothers name. Also the hospital where I was born. I was given up to the “town” magistrate and was adopted from an orphanage at 5 months of age. I have all the original paperwork. My issue to find info is not being able to speak German to do the research. Anything… Read more »
How can I get help to find my son’s father? He was transferred to an unknown place after my pregnancy was announced. He was an M.P. stationed at Camp Pendleton at the time (1967). Now, my son has a family of his own and I cannot answer his medical questions. It caused quite an issue when Tom was 2 years old and had indications of Christmas Disease just prior to tonsil surgery. I spent the entire day at the base trying to get his medical information released with no success. We need help. Tom’s father was a German citizen. I… Read more »
I love this show!! The stories are so positive, powerful and uplifting! With all the negative TV, this show needs to be seen. This is real reality TV!!
Fabulous show! I am an adult adoptee and found my family over 30 years ago. I look forward to watching each week and hope that maybe it goes longer than the six weeks.
Wonderful show! There are so many people out there that relate to this show. I have a young lady that matches my DNA but we cannot find a link. Would love to help her!
Please donot cancel this show!

AS an adoptee shows like this really hit home. I have been fortunate enough to have found my birth mother’s children. My birth mother is deceased but her children, my half siblings have received me with more love and acceptance than I could ever have dreamed of. I only have very little information on my birth father.
I know I’m not alone on this but I too am looking for my sister. I’ve used all those online services spending money and it’s not finding her.
I am in search of my biological family, I was born in 1956 in Sandusky, Ohio.
Would love to find my birth brother.. last name of birth mother is Sheehan.. Would be late 1960’s birth in Chicago Il.
I really love your show! It is so meaningful and has the ability to ‘show’ in a way that is so hard to ‘tell’. I watched the show with my 2 adult children who now I believe really gets it. There is a FB group called Adoption Truth and Transparency Worldwide Network that has more then 6,000 members, mostly consisting of families of adoption loss. They compiled a book called ‘Adoptionland: From Orphans to Activists’. I am so grateful for people like your producers and these types of groups and books that help reunite families and shed light on the… Read more »
