Here’s more from David Lambert at TV Shows on DVD:
This past Thursday, February 16th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released Mad Dogs – Season 1 on DVD. It’s available right now as a manufacture on demand title from Amazon’s CreateSpace MOD program. The cost is $35.99 SRP for a 2-disc set, and cover art is below. The show was seen on Amazon’s “prime” service, and is from Shawn Ryan (Timeless, The Shield, The Unit). […]
Despite the DVD set being called “Season 1,” this is actually the complete run of the program.[…]
In Mad Dogs, old friends reunite in Belize to celebrate Milo’s (Billy Zane) retirement. After things take a bad turn, secrets come out, and resentment festers among them.
The series is an American adaptation of Cris Cole’s UK TV series of the same name. According to Ryan, Mad Dogs was originally intended to be a limited series.
When the news broke that there would be no season two, Ryan tweeted, “…in order to get Season 1 made Amazon wanted to know that future seasons might be possible. Cris Cole and I said we thought there could be but we should have that conversation on if and how after the season was over.”
The duo indeed had their conversation with Roy Price and Amazon. When they laid out their second season plans they were not what Amazon wanted. Likewise, the creative team did not want to make the sort of story Amazon did want.
Since this is a MOD (manufacture on demand) release, you won’t see the Mad Dog DVDs in stores, but you can buy it here.

Very angry over the cancellation of Mad Dogs after one season
Mad Dogs should’ve been a mini series. The first 2 episodes were good, but the script was thin thereafter. The writes ended up with something similar to the last movie of every teenage book franchise i.e. Hunger Games. Only creating 90 minutes of dialogue, but dividing it between 10 hours of episodes
