We have the first TV show cancellation of the 2014-15 season and Manhattan Love Story is the “winner” of the title. ABC has cancelled the new sitcom after four episodes.
Manhattan Love Story follows the members of an extended family from New York City as they navigate the pitfalls of their various relationships. Fortunately, only the audience is privy to their inner thoughts. The castmembers include Analeigh Tipton, Jake McDorman, Nicolas Wright, Jade Catta-Preta, Chloe Wepper, and Kurt Fuller.
The sitcom debuted on September 30th to a mediocre 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.7 million viewers. It wasn’t a very good start but the sitcom had no stars, little lead-in support, and was airing opposite two of the top-rated shows on television — The Voice and NCIS.

Unfortunately, the competition got even tougher in later weeks — and the ratings showed it. Love Story lost 40% of its audience in the demo in week two, held steady in week three and then dropped another 22% this week, falling to an unacceptable 0.7 in the demo and 3.3 million viewers.
Last week, ABC ordered some additional scripts for both Love Story and Selfie, an indication that they were’s ready to throw in the towel just yet. It seems that this week’s ratings were just too low.
The network has pulled the series from the schedule, effective immediately. Next week, a Halloween special will fill the 8pm hour. After that, pairs of episodes of companion series Selfie will fill the hour. That series isn’t doing much better and is almost sure to be cancelled as well.
ABC had ordered 13 episodes of Manhattan Love Story. It’s unclear how many were actually produced or if/when the network will release those that have been shot.

I am very disappointed as well. I really liked this show. I wish someone else would pick it up as well. One of best new shows I have seen. Love the characters and the story line. I would date her in a heartbeat. So cute.
I loved this show-cast -storyline – perfect show to follow Selfire – OMG – big mistake by the network – hopefully a cable station will pick it up – very upsetting – ugh!
So bummed it was canceled! I watched it when I could or would DVR it to watch when I had a moment as I am a single mom. Wish it would come back. Loved the cast especially main 2! Bring it back! ABC always seems to cancel the shows I enjoy! Very sad
I am so upset! I just found out it was cancelled. I loved it. I recorded it and watch when I wanted to. I loved the characters. They were so funny. It was much better than Selfie that show is stupid and there is nothing funny about it. You should have given it a chance. ABC stupid move.

I loved this show! I found it a little late on Hulu but I watched the episodes to get caught up then was disappointed to find it was canceled. Super funny show and great story line…
So so so disappointed it was canceled!!! This was my favorite new show and I agree with earlier posts- manhattan love story is so much better than selfie!! I also watch on abc.com – not prime time. Who let’s a TV schedule run their life schedule now that on dans and DVR are available?
ABC never gives new shows a chance! What their deal. Wonderful, funny show. Jake is so freaking cute and Analeigh is adorable. Very disappointed, again, with ABC. Shame on them!! I watch most shows On Demand My Primetime! Just because people don’t watch specifically the “airtime” doesn’t mean people aren’t watching or not enjoying refreshing, upbeat programs!! Reality shows reek big time and should be cancelled, not funny, well written ones like Manhattan Love Story! PLEASE download remaining shows to ON DEMAND!
I really liked this show. I think the premise of characters talking to themselves (narrating their thoughts) while the action is continuing is excellent. I liked the actors, esp. Analeigh. I wish this would be put in a better time slot so that it has a chance against it’s competitors.
Really bummed about this show being cancelled. It was cute, funny and entertaining unlike that awful Selfie show.

I really enjoyed this show. Give it a chance before you cancel it. Annaleigh is very cute and a star of the future. The poor characters never got to consumate their relationship. How frustrating.
I am very upset that this witty, funny, charming show was canceled. With nothing to fill the air except for reality crap, it was lovely to watch something entertaining and thoughtful. Bring it back ABC!

I am extremely disappointed that it was canceled! It was the best romantic comedy that I have seen in years! I love the chemistry between the two main characters. And the costars were hilarious as well! Please come back! Maybe on a different channel…
