Though the CW’s 90210 remake hasn’t been a big hit, there’s apparently been some talk of reviving another Aaron Spelling evening soap.
Melrose Place was spun-off from the original Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1992. Like its predecessor, the drama struggled in its first season. Viewership grew after producers revamped the series by adding spicey storylines and more interesting characters, most notably Heather Locklear’s ambitious Amanda. Melrose lasted seven seasons before being cancelled by FOX.
At TV Guide’s Emmy party the other night, Melrose alum Lisa Rinna told EOnline that “I’ve heard a rumor of them bringing back the show like they did 90210. I heard that it’s somewhere at the CW.” If the revival does become a reality, Rinna says she’d love to revive her Taylor McBride character. “Let’s bring it on… Melrose, 10 years later!”
If this new Melrose did become a reality, there are all sorts of interesting possibilities for 90210 crossovers. Would 90210’s Principal Harry Wilson (Rob Estes) run into restaurateur Kyle McBride (Rob Estes) from Melrose? Could Jake Hanson (Grant Show) reunite with Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) to help raise her son? Would the series even be worth doing without Locklear? Stay tuned!
Heather Locklear got arrested for DUI on Saturday. She wasn’t looking to hot in the mug shot release.
