At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

I’m very upset. A show I truly enjoyed to watch and everything was left hanging…I hate when that happens! Can’t it come back for one or two more episodes to have a more definitive ending.
BRING IT BACK! IT WAS SUCH A GOOD SHOW, SHOULDN’T BEEN CANCEL!!
Are you kidding me ?! No Mercy ? What on earth has come over the minds of the producers at NBC ? First, they get rid of ER, I understand that, the show had run to its end, but I was still sad to see it go. Then I was glad that Mercy came along, because it’s one of those shows that’s not just about the patients in the hospital, I loved the story of the nurses and doctors. You have to bring Mercy back !!! Someone knock some sense into the heads of those morons and NBC and bring… Read more »
I don”t know who didn”t like mercy, but there seems to be a lot of people who do. I wish it had of at least finished out the season without leaving you hanging as to what was going to happen. I thought it was a cross between ER and Gray”s Anatemy. Oh well will have to find another show to watch on another network!
Bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally a show that my husband and I both enjoyed and looked forward to together and they cancled it….not cool at all….very sad.
I’m really disappointed that Mercy isn’t coming back! PLEASE BRING MERCY BACK!!
i can’t believe that mercy got cancelled it was an awesome show and the last episode left you wanting more. how dare they stop it without letting us at least find out what happens.
how rude, so instead of this good show they have kept or are having crap on instead that’s real smart. what a bunch of Dumbasses.
I also love Trauma and Mercy! I am really tired of some of the shows they keep on the air. But they don’t think twice when a good medical show comes along. Makes you wonder!
how can you end the show like taht at least give the audiance a good finale. I think the story line was great there is nothing on to represent the women that come back from war with various war wound. While some of the scene were a little melodramitic I think of it as the new “I Love Lucy” show where the heroine gets into all the trouble but thru some postive feedback there is always a good message given.
I LOVE Mercy and I am kind of mad because it didn’t wrap up the show and I was looking forward to seeing what happened. Bring the show back…PLEASE
I was very despressed to find out that Mercy AND Trauma were cancelled along with a few of my other fav shows. Yet, they play some of the stupidest B rate shows that go on for another season. Come on BRING MERCY & TRAUMA BACK!!!!!!!
I love Mercy 🙁
yeah me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!so sad
I loved the show and just found out that it wasn’t coming back. I’m very disappointed especially how the last episode ended. Was looking forward to watching a new season.
