At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

I m very disappointed that Mercy was canceled. I enjoyed watching the show & couldnt wait till the following week to see what happened with the characters in the show.
I am really disappointed Mercy got cancelled – I thought it was a great show – one of only 2 I really started watching last year. They really should have tried it in a difference time slot before just getting rid of it!!
I am very upset about mercy being cancelled!!! Wow I loved this show and can’t believe it wont be back on that is really upsetting! Please bring it back somehow or another!
I am SOOOOO disappointed that Mercy won’t be back! What are you THINKING guys???
Maybe because I am 54 I guess I am old fashioned; but Fall TV use to be something to look forward to once upon a time. However, everytime a good show comes on, it’s not long before it’s cancelled unless it’s a reality show. There are so many STUPID reality shows and in my opinion all they do is exploit peoples problems which is sad, i.e. Biggest Loser, Hoarders, The Real Housewives to name a few. Why must people delve into the lives of others misery for their entertainment. Mercy was a good show as was Three Rivers and Friday… Read more »
I personally think NBC sucks!!!!!! First they cancelled my favorite show a year or so ago…”Lipstick Jungle” .. and NOW “Mercy”???????????? Good Lord…. Who runs this network anyway????? They can leave stupid freakin reality shows on and cancel really good, clean entertaining comedy/dramas like both of these! I just don’t get it …….but one thing they can count on…I am done watching ANY SHOW ON NBC!!!!!!!!!
I can’t believe the show was cancelled. It is one of the only shows I watched. The news ruined my night.

I am SOOOOOOO SAD that this show has been cancelled. It is literally one of the only shows I fell in love with and loved every character in the whole show. I really wish there would be a season two!!!! I should have researched sooner about this so now I am just fully disappointed!
