At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

If the big bosses at NBC would get there heads out of there ass long enough to see , they would see that Mercy had a great fan base. But it’s all numbers to those dip sticks, If they had any brains they would do a one time 2 hour TV movie at best to close the damm show out, if for no reason, other then to make those of us that sat by and watched all the 1st season, at least get some kind of finish to a great show. P.S. no one thought M*A*S*H would make it either…NBC ,… Read more »

I am very disapointed! I loved this show, and I do not apreciate how it ended!(:
Unbelievable show. I am so hooked to this series, Mercy. Now I find out that their is no more. That is so bad of NBC to just take off. Excellant actors and great story. Write more and put it back on………………………… Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
That’s stupid that they ended the show on a cliff hanger!!! What happened to mike and Dr. Sanz?…
I am also hooked through Netflix and would love to see the end; the true ending. Please give it a shot!
Very gripping show. What are these people thinking. bring it back!
I just found this show and I am hooked. You can not end a show this way. I wish NBC would get a cork out of its butt and have mercy on for at least one more year to see how it does. I know many people have netflix and watched the show off of that and are hooked now. I wish they would give that show another shot. What do they have to lose?
This was such a good show. Why do they keep canceling the good ones????
Sad that NBC only has a hanfull of good stuff, then they let go of an awesome show like Mercy. Besides the fact you left us all hanging, you could try it again, I am sure you will see different results, but remember, ADVERTISE the hell out of it, not like last time.
plz bring it back plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
