Have mercy! While the second season of the Mercy Street TV series isn’t coming to PBS until 2017, the network is already promoting it. Watch a teaser, below.
The Mercy Street TV show cast includes: Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Josh Radnor, Gary Cole, Peter Gerety, Donna Murphy, Norbert Leo Butz, McKinley Belcher III, Shalita Grant, L. Scott Caldwell, Hannah James, Wade Williams, AnnaSophia Robb, Tara Summers, Brad Koed, Luke Macfarlane, Cameron Monaghan, Suzanne Bertish, and Cherry Jones.
“I am so pleased that MERCY STREET has already had such tremendous success and will be returning to Virginia to film season two,” said Governor Terry McAuliffe. “This outstanding show is a great illustration of the enormous opportunities Virginia offers to film and television producers and to tourists who enjoy history and natural beauty. I hope everyone will continue to support MERCY STREET and take advantage of our many exceptional Civil War sites and attractions, particularly those in Alexandria, where the original story of MERCY STREET took place, and in Central Virginia where the PBS series is filmed.”
Watch the Mercy Street, “Season 1 Critic Buzz, Season 2 Coming 2017” teaser. PBS says, “See what the critics said about season 1 of the new Civil War-era series MERCY STREET, and mark your calendars for season 2, coming 2017.”
Here is more on Mercy Street, season two, from PBS:
Season two picks up directly from the dramatic events at the end of the season one finale, continuing to explore the growing chaos within Alexandria, the complicated interpersonal dynamics of Dr. Foster, Nurse Mary and the Mansion House staff, the increasingly precarious position of the Green family and the changing predicament of the burgeoning black population. The season will introduce a number of new elements, taking us closer to the fight and into the halls of Confederate power, all set against the intensifying war, starting with the Seven Days’ Battle and culminating with Antietam.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Mercy Street TV show on PBS? Do you plan to watch the second?
Haven’t watched Season one; don’t plan on watching Season two. I watch PBS for the British & Australian series, not another tiresome American liberal propaganda.
We loved Season 1 and can’t say enough good things about Season 2. We hope the show continues because we have become so attached to the characters and want to follow them past the conclusion of the war. So too are we glad so many participants are discovering the futility of war once faced with its ravages up close.
I loved this series. I wish there was more than 6 episodes in the first season. I can’t wait until the second season starts. I wish we didn’t have to wait until 2017. I really hope there are more than 6 episodes in the next season! Can’t wait.
I excited about second season!”
YES I DID WATCH THE FIRST SEASON AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEASON TWO. I ENJOY ABSORBING THE FAULTS AND THE VIRTUES OF THE CHARACTERS AS THOSE PEOPLE ARE COMPELLED TO LIVE THROUGH THE CHANGES FORCED UPON THEM BY THE EVENTS OF THE CIVIL WAR.
I am so glad its coming back even tho at times it is a hard show to watch due to its terribly sad content.
Love, love, looovvvee mercy Street!!!
