The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.

I AM SOOOO MAD THAT THEY HAVE CANCELLED MIAMI MEDICAL! I am a nurse and most things are very accurate. I love this show. We have found that instead of going out on Friday nights, our family wants to stay home to watch it. If we can’t be home we DVR. Who do you they get to do ratings? Just curious because everyone I know likes it better than ER.
We’re sorry to see this go as we have enjoyed every episode. Every time you put on a new decent series you pull it right away. We found it by accident at first – maybe these should get more promotion up front. Regardless we will miss another good show. Please don’t replace it with some stupid reality show. Thanks!
I don’t want to see the show go! I so look forward to Friday night’s and Miami Medical. Can’t we keep the good shows and get rid of the other junk?
My wife and I are extremely upset that they are canceling the show. We thought it was great. I never thought that a medical show would be so interesting. Miami Medical had a great cast and they did an awesome job.
Another Friday night casualty. This is an excellent show that needed to be nurtured, just like the late Numb3rs, Congrats to CBS — a ship of fools.
I don’t think it has been given enough time to become popular. It is always difficult to attract a following on Friday nights. I LOVE THE SHOW!
MM needs a better time slot and a better time to start. Starting a new show up against Graduations, Weddings and Spring is not fair. I have watched this show every week and have become a FAN of the cast and the writing. I have even cried during some episodes
Please reconsider and continue to run high quality television with Miami Medical.

Both my husband and I are totally intrigued by this show. We watch alot of TV and this show has gripped us both and we anxiously await Friday nights to catch it. A trauma unit at a hospital is much more intense than a regular ER and I think it is fascinating to get an idea of what happens in a unit that deals with the most serious and critical of all emergencies. It may not quite be on point on the medical end but accuracy can be accomplished by allowing the show to continue and get into a stride.… Read more »
I am so sorry to see Miami Medical go . it is as exciting as House and I believe it was on the wrong night. I wish they would give it a chance on another night.
why was the best medical drama on tv cancelled. every friday night i looked forward to viewing MIAMI MEDICAL. PLEASE KEEP THIS SHOW ON AND KEEP OFF THREE RIVERS AND TRAUMA. MIAMI MEDICAL IS THE MOST REAL OF THESE SHOWS NOT TO SAY THE BEST. PS, i am a rn. and love this show
I’m very sorry for the cancellation of MIAMI MEDICAL. I like this show and this is very different from GREYS ANATOMY and ER .. there is more medicine here .. and action!! Maybe it needs more characters… but please DON’T CANCEL MIAMI MEDICAL!!!!!
I am so mad that this show is being cancelled. I find every episode amazing ( and some gross,: in a good way). I love the characters and the drama. The network should reconsider give it a chance. I DVR it evey week and can’t wait to watch it. I am sorry to see it go. Please don’t!
You went and cancelled NUMBERS which our family watched from the very first episode until the last. Then you just cancelled GHOST WHISPERER which we also watched faithfully. Now you have shut down Miami Medical without even giving it a chance. It was a great show with fun characters and interesting storylines. We looked forward eagerly to each new episode. Please consider these cancellations and bring back these good shows.
