The latest medical drama on CBS is going the way of Three Rivers and NBC’s Mercy and Trauma. Miami Medical has been cancelled after one season on the air. However, there is some good news.
Miami Medical follows the exciting lives of a group of talented surgeons who work at one of the best trauma centers in the country. The Friday night drama features Lana Parrilla , Jeremy Northam, Omar Gooding, Mike Vogel, and Elisabeth Harnois.
The CBS medical series got off to a poor start on April 2nd with a 1.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.59 million viewers. In week two, the numbers dropped to a 1.4 rating in the demo and 7.1 million viewers. Viewership has continued to tumble and thus far, the season has averaged a disappointing 1.3 rating in the demo and 6.7 million viewers.
To put these figures in perspective, Numb3rs’ season had better numbers — an average of a 1.8 rating and 8.27 million — and was ultimately cancelled.

And now, like so many of the other medical dramas from this season, Miami Medical has been cancelled. There won’t be a second season.
On the positive side, the show was scheduled to finish its run tonight, leaving five of its 13 episodes unaired. But now, CBS has added some additional airdates.
Next Friday’s will be a repeat of the pilot episode. Then, original episodes will return on June 4th, paired with new installments of Flashpoint. The last episode of Miami Medical is expected to air on July 2nd.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Miami Medical’s been cancelled or should it have been pulled awhile ago?

Excellent Show! TV is a tough business. Sometimes this does not allow enough time for a well written show to capture an audience. I wish they would keep it on.
So sorry to see Miami Medical gone. It had a slow start but my husband and I really love the show….any chance it can be brought back????? Also like Flash Point…very glad it is back and would like to see both shows stay on Fridays!
What’s with taking all the good shows off anymore! All we have to watch are comeidies ,
and other dumb half hour shows…I’m really tired of having to look for PPV or other good movies to watch on TV…give us more drama PLEASEEEEE
I can’t believe you are taking away Miami Medical. It was great. You gave it a bad time slot and started in the spring when people don’t watch as much TV. PLEASE reconsider.
I am so sorry to hear Miami Medical is not going to have a chance. I really enjoy it and have watched every episode. I also like Trauma and Mercy. Sad to see them go also. 🙁
Too bad! This show was really growing on me. Sorry to see it go! At least they plan to show all the episodes.
I am soory to hear that Miami Medical has been cancelled. The stort lines were good, as well as the characters. What’s up CBS???
It was a good show!!
CBS…you finally have a show aimed at adults and not tweens..give it a chance. It is engaging from start to finish..The characters are real, what are you thinking??? Please give it a second look! I am so sick of the crap on tv these days.
Agree!
Tonight is the last episode of Miami Medical if CBS doesn’t renew for Season 2.
CBS, please read all of the comments before you completely cancel this show. It will be a very bad decision if you do. Viewers love this show and what it brings to CBS. KEEP THIS SHOW!
This show should stay on. Don’t they realize it’s on Friday nights of course the ratings are low!! Keep it on!
I really liked the mix of characters on the show and really can’t believe that CBS is cancelling the show, or Numbers for that matter. I guess they don’t mind pissing off 15 million people, well some of the same folks may be watching both but hey, I loved them both.
I absolutely love this show and all the characters!! I so hope that they will reconsider this decision and do at least 1 more season. Let the characters develop more and give them some kind of resolution.
Agree!
I’m sad to see this show go, like so many others that have come and gone in one season or less. I’m starting to move to other networks as others have mentioned in order to find worthwhile dramas because I can’t stomach the (and I say this loosely) reality tv shows. I wish this show had been given a better time slot and advertised…I don’t think it helps with all the confusing season changes that have taken place over the last few years. Shows start and stop in mid flow so that other things can be aired for a few… Read more »
I might have to go to the trauma center to recover from the cancelling of a fantastic show. Please save my life by calling in the wonderful doctors of Miami Medical.
Bring on Season 2 and Season 3 and Season 4 and Season 5 and etc. Do you understand what we’re saying CBS!?!?!?!?!?!?
