Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

That’s the trouble with the know-it-all execs running the networks now. There is basically nothing on TV to watch anymore. They purposely screw up their own shows. I rarely watch this trash network but this was one of their best shows in years next to Revenge.
Glad I got rid of cable and satellite tv in my home.
It was a great, exciting show! Ashley Judd made a great spy! But it was up against other popular shows like Big Bang Theory and The Office. Dang. Put it on against some other that are not so popular.
Two thumbs down to ABC for not renewing this show. It was one of the best shows on. Such a nice change from all the STUPID reality shows we are subjected to. SHAME on you.
What a shame its not being renewed! I felt that it was one of the best shows on. Such a nice change from all the STUPID reality shows we are subjected to. Ashley Judd was and is an amazing actor. Again, what a shame. Two thumbs down to ABC.
I have just gone to check out if Missing is out on dvd and am very disappointed to read that there will not be a second season of this show. I thoroughly enjoyed this show and found it very edge of your seat drama and loved the twist and turns. I am also an Ashley Judd fan and thought she played an excellent roll. Hopefully the powers to be might change their mind.
So sorry this was cancelled!!! What an exciting twisting series – We watched the whole thing on Amazon in a week – couldn’t wait for each episode. What a shame!!!!!
I want season2 of missing
This show was great. My family really liked it – along with my sister and my mom.
We were all hooked and loved it.
Very disappointed in your decision to cancel.
Ashley Judd did a phenomenal job in portraying a tough mother who would do anything for her child. The series was filmed on location in some exotic places and kept me on the edge of my seat. LIFETIME needs to pick it up for us female viewers.
I am so upset about the news that the show has been cancelled.
ABC needs to get a hold of me since I’m the target audience.
I watch a lot of the hit shows. This was on par wit or better than NCIS…which I like.
It was also better than Chuck which I liked.
They had me hooked, so it wasn’t a good decision.
I think other show were just competing at the same time.
What a bummer!!!
I am sad that it will not be more episodes of the missing I really looked forward to the show on Thursdays my mothers was in love with that show if she missed an episode she would be up set until she saw it!!
I loved Missing. I am so disappointed it will not be on for a second season. Ashley Judd was great as an action star. I will definately miss Missing.
I am from Australia and cannot understand why this excellent show was axed.
It certainly left all those awful reality shows for dead.
Shame on ABC.
Missing was the best show! My 12 year old daughter and 8 year old son loved it, too! Now that the Olympics are over, ABC should play reruns and gain new viewers! Once you see an episode, you are HOOKED!
Shame, shame, shame!! What on earth is going on that a network says a show as good as “Missing” has too low of ratings so will be cancelled. Firstly, I can’t believe that it had that low of ratings even if it did start later in year; secondly, compared to the crappy, unethical garbage not fit for humans to watch thats out there, “Missing” was worthy of any family to watch with lots of suspense and a good story line. Please, please another network pick it up!
