Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I’ve been waiting to hear about when the second season was going to start! I am so disappointed (as I see everyone else is who watched it) that this show was cancelled. I am so sick of reality TV and this was an awesome new series. It kept me in suspense every week and it was something to look forward! Was always so excited to see what was going to happen. I thought it was very well done, and I wish they would reconsider. I’m dying to know why Ashley Judd’s character now disappeared!
this show was so great. I can’t believe it got canceled. They should reconsider and put it back on.
Am definitely going to miss this show. Was anxious awaiting to see what was going to happen in season 2. Ashley Judd did an awesome job (as did the other actors) and she will be missed.
I am so shocked this show has been cancelled. It was full of action, emotion and suspense. It was well written and I could let my kids watch because there was no bad language. I really enjoyed it and was looking forward to a new season. Wish they’d reconsider.
Missing was an excellent show I cant believe it was cancelled It should definately be put back on. Please take one of these sitcom or reality shows.
I was looking to see when it started too, I can’t believe it’s canceled!! It needs to be brought back, I think the networks all have their own agendas and this show didn’t fit their agenda and promote what they want the public to see , so they just didn’t give an effort to push it on us like they do a lot of the filth that is now on TV. It was a great show that not many people I’ve talked to even knew was on the air. It is sad how much we are controlled by the media!!
Best TV spy show I’ve ever seen, it seemed like a full on movie ever week. I loved Ashley Judd, she was believable and the locations were beautiful!!
Just wanted to say me and my husband loved the show didn’t miss an episode!! I was actually looking it up to see if the season was starting again very disappointed that it has been cancelled. Want to let Ashley Judd know I’m a huge fan!! Hopefully something happens and the show reappears:) Thanks a fan
missing was great op it could be aired back
Missing ,was a great show I wish it was back on I watched every week bring it back…
I am 63 years old and this series was for me. It was a blend of intelligence and heart beating suspense.
It is a shame that this country only targets 18-49. There is another age to target who watches tv instead of having it on, texting and phone calling at the same time.
i think it was one of the best shows on and cant beleive it was cancelled.they should put it back on
We were so looking forward to watching another season. We were left hanging and feel extreemly disapointed. It was during a time when many other competing shows were on, so it forced people to view shows they were already vested in. A simple case of bad timing, etc.
The good shows get cancelled…. it seems people would rather watch 30 minute comedy 🙁 or reality. What a disappointment.
Shame on ABC for taking it off the air. An excellent series and I will miss it. Oh well we can always watch NBC or CBS.
