NBC has cancelled plans for one of their new comedies — Mission Control, reports Deadline. The single-camera sitcom was one of the last shows that the peacock network ordered last spring.
Set in the 1960s, the pilot for Mission Control stars Krysten Ritter as a brilliant and tough aerospace engineer who leads a team of NASA scientists at the cutting edge of space exploration. Michael Rosenbaum was in the pilot but his role was set to be recast.
The comedy didn’t test well but people at the network liked it and they found a way to order six episodes. Now, NBC apparently has many new comedies in the works so they decided they don’t want to move forward with Mission Control.
In 2012, NBC cancelled Next Caller before airing but had actually shot a few of those episodes.
What do you think? Does Mission Control sound like a show you would have watched?
Man watched the trailer for Krysten’s movie Asthma, then look up her IMDB and seen this, sounds like something I’d watch. too bad it was DOA – strong female leads are slowly rising, maybe next time 😀
DOA???
I actually saw this show when they were testing it last spring at the MGM in Las Vegas. It was hillarious, everyone was cracking up in my group.
How did this NOT test well. It was like Talladega Nights except in the 60’s and about the space program.
I was excited to see “Lem and Phil” again (from Better Off Ted) but the rest of the premise seemed utterly ridiculous. Adding that the debut has been delayed numerous times, I held out little hope for it. Scrap the rest but bring back Lem and Phil!
Would have been expensive doing it as a period production which wouldn’t have helped the decision.
LOL… I can’t imagine anyone being interested in watching this one. Good call NBC.
