CBS has yet to renew the Friday night vampire series but that’s not stopping Moonlight executive producer Joel Silver and the show’s writers. They’re already plotting Moonlight’s second season.
While promoting the upcoming Speed Racer film, Silver talked about Moonlight’s prospects for a second year on CBS. He said, “We’re hopeful… I mean, the next episode goes on next Friday night [April 25th], which is a really great episode. It starts out, Mick [Alex O’Loughlin] is still human, but then he has to go back to being a vampire. And I have three more really strong episodes. And I hope that it does come back, because we have a whole plan for next year that’s fantastic.”
The network has been on the fence about renewing Moonlight though it seems like the chances are good. Silver says that he’s scheduled to meet with CBS programming executives to talk about the show’s future. “Well, we’re going to go in, as a matter of fact, next week for a pitch meeting to tell them what we’re going to do next year.”
Based on what the programmers hear and the performance of the new episodes, they’ll decide whether Mick St. John will return to walk the streets of Los Angeles next fall. CBS announces its 2008-09 schedule in mid-May. Stay tuned!

I live in Botswana and people over here are crazy about your show!Everyone(even my teachers at school are talking about it,hell even my grandma who is 77 years old talks non-stop about it!!).Everywhere i go its did you check moonlight on Friday?It is the hottest thing in our country!We love Mick St. John and Beth.The chemistry they have going ther is just too good to let go!!We love the fact that it is not the usual detective meets girl and they solve crimes together fall in love.So pretty pliz dnt axe the show 🙁 we would be deeply hurt……What about… Read more »

I am a show producer in Japan. From where see it, to cancel such a great addictive show would not be a smart move for any networks. If a network ditched moonlight. Then, producers, writers, go to other networks who have visions. I still can’t believe that CBS wants to cancel Moonlight. We want Moonlight season 2!

PLEEEEEEAASE don’t cancel Moonight!!! PLEASE!! Friday night is my only TV night, and I am too busy to watch any other night, what with school and work and everything. Ghost Whisperer and Moonlight are my two favourite shows. Don’t leave me and many other fans hanging. If it’s cancelled on CBS, find some other network that can air it on Friday nights…PLEEAASE!!!
hi you have to make a season two of moonlight there are too many good shows being cancelled nowadays and moonlight can’t be one of them. you need to write the second series your fans are waitimg for more good story lines and cliff hangers etc etc not to mention the tension between beth and mick it can be taken to so many levels. come on guys give us what we want pleasssssssse.
